I've got a Red Rider BB gun that does the job. You can borrow that, seems to get rid of the cats in my neighborhood. Doesn't break the skin, but sure scares them away.
Or, get a little pooper scooper and return these little gems back to your neighbors yard. In one big pile of course.

Hmm, we've been down this path before, and all that ends up happening is that people get angry at each other as we polarize into cat-haters versus cat-fanciers.
So before this goes too far, I would like to point out that this is the "General Rocks Board" and is intended for discussions about "anything at all related to rocks." -Don

Amen Don. Lets keep this the rocks area!

Don't we have admins that can move these threads to where they belong... like "Life, the Universe, and Everything"?

Well, when those cat turds silicify, it can go back on the rocks board, right? Next to the dino poop.
(But the guns should stay here.)

We have a neighbor, who had a Pit Bull. That dog ran at night, turning over garbage cans, eating the neighborhood cats. One day, he ate our neighbors little girl. The little lady is ok, the homeowners paid the hospital bill, the state took the dog, and put it down. The owners have resorted to mooning everyone, staying home and drinking. They are deteriorating before our eyes. It is sad. Before that dog ate the child, he attacked a cat. He was a big old cat, black with blue eyes. Chunky, tough, and kept his distance. That dog tried to eat him. A piece of skin hung down from the side of his face. It was pretty bad. Eventually, he had a smell. Everyone tried to catch him to get him to a vet. We never caught him. One day, the smell coming from under our house told us he was under it. The next day he was gone. A couple of days later we saw him at the edge of our property, with that flap of skin hanging off his face. We never saw him again. Cats do what cats do, dogs do what dogs do, drunks do what drunks do. It has been almost a year now. We remember that cat. We remember that dog, we still see the drunks, mooning, falling over. A neighbor we had never met, smiles at us now. He is a mean, crodgety old man. He got caught dumping oil in a stream behind his house. He got really fined. He was the neighborhood code snitch. We never met him, but everyone knew him. Hey, who knows, maybe the cats taking dumps in your yard know something the soil needs. Or maybe they feel safe there. Sometimes they can sure be a pain. Our neighborhood, it seems some folks move here, then leave leaving their cats, dogs behind. We are making friends with some of them now. Some are real characters. Some spray the wheels on our Suburban. Haven't seen any mice, or snakes in a long time though. Not a bad trade.

29 cats, thats a bunch of poop. I think a few kindly put words with your neighbor might help. If not, I think that the police can write a ticket for that sort of thing.

yep...sounds like a job for animal control to me. That would be the rational thing to do. 29 cats in one home is the result when people (not cats or dogs) don't act responsibly. It's amazing to me that people can be so cruel. I say make the people pay, not the animals, they're victims as well.

Maybe I should mention, recommending the BB gun was a joke. I don't condone shooting animals, unless of course you're hunting. I did however have to use it on a woodpecker trying to make a hole in the aluminum flashing around my fireplace, but again, it doesn't have the power to break the skin, heck the bb travels 10 before it starts dropping.
I was somewhat serious about delivering the goodies back to said neighbors yard. That might be a little much, but in my experience, the people that let their animals run free without concern, usually don't listen when you ask them nicely to keep their pets in their own yard. Just my experience though. With any luck, you have a good neighbor and they will take care of their problem.
Maybe I just have flakey neighbors!

KB~ I honestly didn't think anyone here was condoning the intentional harm of animals... I meant that it was cruel for people to have animals and not have them spayed or neutered. As for the suggestion to deliver the goodies back to the owners, I think that's a fine idea! Maybe Santa could leave 'em a gift on the door step?

Sprinkle lots of mothballs in your back yard. The cats will go elsewhere to poop.

Yep, moth balls work pretty darn good! My kitty decided to quit using his litter box and use the rest of the basement as his personal litter box. I sprinkled moth "crystals" in the areas that he kept using and he quit! If you put in a Google or Yahoo search, you'll probably find more "humane" remedies to get them to stop.
Though, I would have to say, 29 cats is probably more than what most city ordinances allow, so you can always report it to the local health dept. or animal control. There's probably a "hoarder" living there and it needs to be addressed. The majority of those cats are probably in bad health and can pass it on to healthy pets. Good luck!
