Hi Mark, sorry to hear about all those tests --- the good thing is if you catch it early you have a goooood chance of beating it --- both my neighbors have gone thu this -- one has been over ten years now and no signs of it showing up again ! -- the other neighbor just got home last week , I went over to see him thursday and he said the doc had just called and said there were no other signs of it -- that they had got it all !! --- anyway, if you have any doubts about the doc -- go get another opinion as they have different ideas too ! hope all goes well !

"if you have any doubts about the doc"
Snowdog - I had my doubts and thanks very much for your advice. I placed my doc in a situation - and I think that everyone should do the same thing. If you feel you need testing at a small scale - say cells or atoms - then FORCE IT ON THEM - DONT DELAY.
My doc started saying stuff about that there was more chance outside that there was a sparrow in the tree than an exotic bird. Yeah - but my pains are cancer doc - you can sit there with all the airs and graces in the world - but help me out...................

I would think if the doc was really concerned that you have colon cancer, the first thing he'd do is order up a colonoscopy so they can check for polyps and if any, do a biopsy on them ... or visually check for tumors. My Mother had colon cancer five years ago, and we are damn lucky we still have her, no thanks to doctor error. When she went in with pains, they removed her gall bladder (this was done in March that year). In November she was still sick so they finally did a colonoscopy and found the cancer. She had 15 inches of her large intestine removed, along with 37 lymph nodes, some of which showed cancer. Today she is fine and has passed her five year clear test. Oh, did I mention she was 78 when they found this?
The moral of the story ... don't give me this "If I have to go, I have to go bullshit" Mark ... Get your ass to the doctor and demand better testing or go find a different one. Cancer is not the end of the world and not a total death sentence anymore. Luke needs his Daddy to be there for him to build bird houses, collect beautiful rocks and shells, learn about nature, learn right from wrong, and to protect him from the evils of life. In other words, now is your time to fight for your son!
Heck, when my Mother went through chemo, she didn't even lose her hair! If she could do it, so can you ... if you even have it. You didn't mention any symptoms or anything so like Kim asked ... is there a reason or is this "preventive" medicine? Are you sick every time you eat something? Do you have a lot of gas and pain when you eat? Are you puking alot and losing weight? (Just a few things my Mom went through).
I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers that all will be ok. Be strong!!

Well its because of pain in the left side abdomen for 3 weeks why I went (transcending colon). It is a nagging ache - not stabbing or sharp - just "there" if you know what I mean. I would not bother with it except for the fact it is not going away for sooo long.
KD the results - well I dont know as its christmas and things may take longer, I hear the longer I have to wait - the better the news will be.
Colonoscopy - yes Cher - this is on the cards and will happen depending on the tests - however I may FORCE one and pay for it privately if I am still unsure. It is not the first thing to happen over here - sample tests come first then the visual scans after. Your mum did exceptionally well - especially showing in nodes - I am glad for you and her - very much so. Trust me I have done a LOT of reading.
Well - thats where its at - blood on tuesday.
Its quite a task trying to force a doctor to TELL you you are ill - or otherwise - an interesting episode to say the least. We shall see.

Hang in there Mark, "Maybe it's just a giraffe" Many years ago our VCR would not except tapes, we thought we would have to buy another, they were very expensive then, but just before throwing it out I looked in with a flashlight and found that one of my kids had put a plastic giraffe in and it was easily extracted, since then that has become a phrase in my family for something that seems terrible but just maybe there is a easy solution so hang on until you know for sure.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Mark; I don't know you, but let me tell you what happened to me. In 2004 I had a lump for the past year in my neck. My doctor said I better get it checked. I had 2 surgerys on my neck and 33 radation treatments. I went through a lot, but you know what, I'm good. I know what your going thru. Hang in there, reach out for your family and friends, everybody is here for you. Everything will work out. Don't let it get you down. Just remember you have lots of people to talk to here.

I'm glad to hear you didn't wait any longer Mark but very sorry to hear that you have to push so hard to get the tests done. Hard to understand isn't it, you'd think that would be a first without waiting at all. I'll be thinking lots of you and praying all turns out well, I'm going to be positive that you'll be ok!! Holler if you have any ??'s or just want to yell ... I'll be there for you and happy to be a sounding board or whatever. Hang in there Debs, I'm sure this is really stressful for you also.

You might try drinking Hydrogen Peroxide for six months. All I know, it is controversial, but I got the expected results. I had written about it six months ago, and I just got off it. No flu's, plantar warts fell off, skin in better condition, etc. It was reccomended by a person who was diagnosed with cancer in 1974. Six months ago, when he was 84 and still drinking it, he was cancer free and frankly could outwork a teenager. His before pictures showed him to be a real fatass, today, well I hope I look like that at 70, let alone 84. I have met other people who have turned their life around with Peroxide. Try it, who knows.

A Colonoscopy, is that where they jam a camera or a finger up your ass? I got checked for prostate 2 years ago, the first one I ever had, I'll tell ya, I will NEVER have that done again! My doc. has fingers the size of a bratwurst! And he wasn't gentle about it either. Just like the Diceman , the doc. tells me I gotta quit smoking after he checks me.

Eathdog, it HAS to be done. I am going back for it before long. The first time my Dr. checked me with the finger was well traumatic, remember the foorball player "the fridge"? well my Dr. could have been his twin brother, I won't elaborate any more than that hoping you get my drift. I was not happy after my first exam, the next evening the phone rang and after my GF hung up she told me it was Dr. Wells asking if I was free for dinner tomorrow, I about fell off the couch laughing without that I doubt I would even consider it again, it was her way of telling me to drop my pride and my pants to save my life.

Nope, sorry, not for me. If something goes wrong down there and something hurts, then maybe I'll go in and get it checked. Otherwise I'm not doing that again. I felt raped, violated, and needed a cigarette after that visit with the doctor.
