.....I was not happy after my first exam, the next evening the phone rang and after my GF hung up she told me it was Dr. Wells asking if I was free for dinner tomorrow, I about fell off the couch laughing without that I doubt I would even consider it again, it was her way of telling me to drop my pride and my pants to save my life. hehehe... that's funny. I can just hear Rodney Dangerfield "... Hey wait a minute doc... aren't cha gonna buy me a drink first?" ...almost 42 now and i haven't had the dreaded exam.. i suppose i should.. eh i think i will... Mark.. stay strong no matter what... i know you will.

Earthdog, the finger up the butt is to check the prostate for problems, especially cancer. The doctor is trying to feel for swelling, hardness, and/or lumps in the prostate through the walls of the colon, and can't be overly gentle. The problem with prostate cancer is that it may develop and metastasize (spread to other body parts) before there are any outward symptoms. I'm over 50 and get the test once a year along with a PSA blood test. Under 50 and over 35, my doctor says to do it every two or three years. I haven't had a colonoscopy yet but my doctor is suggesting one, but I have once a year blood, urine, and stool sample tests.
Mark, good luck! Chances are there won't be any problems, but as others have said, the earlier something is caught, the more successful the treatment.

Come on guys it is bad but to save your life is worth it next time you have to go just think of what has to go down for the Lady's and we do it because we love our families at least no one is trying to stick anything in a vice like they do to me every year I am glad some of you are brave enough to watch your ass as I lost my Grandpa to this so it hits home. The vice thing for women, my wife is going to get a mamogram done next week. I told her I want to go and watch. She said no. I wonder why she won't let me go with her. I also told her anytime she wants me to check her for cancer there, I'll do it for free... If something goes wrong with me, where the sun don't shine, oh well, I have lived a good life.

Hey, I agree with Earthdog. Something that is designed to push out, that I cannot see but can definately feel, it will be definately be him or me. One of us will leave the room, the other will not. I do not at all trust Drs. Once, having a naive pre-med student, I had my eyes opened. Maybe once they cared for the well being of the patient. Today, I believe they only are at the bottom of a pyramid scam. Once they get you, if you balk, they turn you in to Big Brother, then Big Brother takes over and it all goes out of control. I fix jewelery for these things called Elder Boomers. At the end of the day, I personally believe modern medicine keeps things alive against evolution. Attitude is part of evolution. Maybe I am being the fool, probably, but my wife knows why I was pulling my own teeth. She brought me to a concern called Gentle Dental. That dentist fractured my skull pulling a straight extraction. He literally fractured my hard palate, and she paid for it! Today my dentures do not fit, nor will they as the palate shifts. Some dude, shoving something foreign where the sun don shine? Him or me......

I agree with you Doc. I don't trust them either. They don't care at least like they seem to have back in the 70's at least. A head shrink spent 15 minutes with my daughter, after her teacher, in first grade told us that she didn't pay attention in class. The doctor told us that my daughter was a good candidate for Ritalin. After only 15 minutes! I stopped going to the walk in clinic after I had a few, so called doctors write stuff off as I has tweaked something. The last time I went, my ankle was swelled up the size of a baseball, this young doctor, all of 25 years old told me I must have tweaked it somehow. I kept telling her I didn't tweak it in any way. After she told me 3 times she doesn't believe I didn't tweak it I told her I was gonna tweak it when I start kicking some of the machines in the office!

Drs were created by the Electricals. The Electricals created Drs., politicians, teachers, rested a lot, and sat back and watched us tear ourselves apart. Some believed the Drs., some doubted. Politicians created slogans, and committees, plus added taxes, and enforcement criterion. Then they created fear. We were afraid we had things the Drs., created in our heads by capitalizing on certain case percentages. They even created fears about writing what we really think. The Electricals live on the energy we produce in our nerves. We are their batteries. Animals live untill they die. Humans fear death as soon as we are taught about heaven. That is why Drs., make so much money. They created insurance categories and shape our diagnosis to fit into a profitable category. They call this categorization. Meantime, some sweaty skinned yuppie dressing Dr, has us staying awake worrying about some Geeky guy shoving something hard somewhere it does not belong. Meantime, in the 1840's Hydrogen Peroxide was created. Our bodies naturally create this material. The theory is... There was more O2 in the atmosphere years ago. Industrialization has consumed a large percentage. Oxygen kills virus, and bacteria that does not survive in an Oxygen atmosphere. I am not sure hyperbarics is the answer. Modern living has changed a lot of rules. Modern living has made a lot of changes in life threatening issues. I think the entire issue is the breakdown of the mononuclear family, and Drs. Good luck Mark. We will be rootin for ya. Lets all hope the Dr does not wear leather. I imagine this entire post makes little sense. I just hope the Drs do not turn you or anybody else into a Toaster. But maybe that is what they want.

This is where I jump off the train. The thread started about Mark's test and his health.
Before I leap, two things: I have a problem with drinking something that dissolved blood out of my uniform tie. Lastly, Mark we are all pulling for you, and in case things turn out badly hang in there and fight it, I know several men that have had that happen and have beaten it, and none who did not survive.

Don't be so quick to jump Spike.. There's plenty of research to back up what doc says... educate-yourself.org/cancer/benefitsofhydrogenperozide17jul03.shtmlwww.medical-library.net/sites/framer.html?/sites/_iv_hydrogen_peroxide_therapy.htmlwww.h2o2hydrogenperoxide.com/those are just a few... H2O2 - Oxygen & Hydrogen just like water. In fact rain water contains H2O2 and that's why plants like it best. When it dissoluts it releases a single Oxygen atom. The release of the Oxygen radical is beneficial to proper health. White blood cells create and use radicals to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Have to admit that I was VERY sceptical at first but after reading a bit more I might just give it a try myself! I'm not saying that anyone should turn they're back on conventional medicine, but new research studies emerge all the time and most doctors can't or won't keep up with the latest inovations.

I will admit to being tempted. For many years I wore my grand dads copper bracelet, my mother who is 70 has arthritis, but when she works with copper she feels no pain. I have used tea tree oil with great results, unconventional remedies do not bother me. The main reason I am dropping off and the most important one is that the thread was about Mark and his problem. If someone would start a "Up your butt" thread I would wade right in, ok poor choice of words there, but hopefully you get what I am trying to say.

Yes sir I get it. I guess it's a touchy subject for most guys and a little levity sort of eases the tension.. so to speak My grandmother had polyps at 60 ...had surgery and lived for another 20+ years. I think I would be willing to deal with the discomfort of an exam if it meant adding 20 years... The more i read about H2O2 therapy the more I'm intrigued. It makes sense that doctors wouldn't want to let folks know about it. It's cheap and readily available and i think most GPs are just pharmaceutical drug pushers these days. Hopefully Mark knows that we are all pulling for him, sending good thoughts, and remembering him in our prayers in spite of all the horsin' around...

H202 Therapy is indeed controversial. However, I am meeting more and more people who have used it with attested results. Mark is a really decent apparently responsible individual. I use left handed approaches to get folks to research on their own. The H2O2 therapy worked real well for myself and my wife. At the reccomended 25 drops three times a day, it takes real courage however. At 5 months my wife and I just quit. H2O2, has proven to be effective in virus treatments, cancer treatments, precancer treatments. Now, empirical tests have no conclusive results. Who records, and stacks the odds anyhow, can we trust them? Can I trust me? Hey, I notice on the bottom of the page, H2O2 is listed. Hmmmmm. Everyone, have a Merry Christmas. For those who have not gotten it yet, Mr. Hankey's Christmas is a great Christmas album for those in a festive spirit. Everyone, have peace, let your family be safe and may you get the chance to do something for someone who does not know your name. Mark, it has been a good year. Luke's first Christmas, cool beans......

cool... I'm reading more about it.. and thinking seriously about trying it. The more I read the studies and the doctors who have tried this...well ..I might try it myself. I want to read as much as I can about it first. I've read that it can be done in conjunction with Chemo and really makes a difference in how the patient reacts to chemo.. no nausia ...good appetite .. good T-cell levels etc.. of course only a doctor should administer in those cases and that's usually done intravenously.. by the doctor. I can send you more link if you'd like...let me know.

Yes, please do, send some links. I am in the first stages of emphysema and am going to read up more about it. After Christmas I might call that number and find out who does it in my area.
