i was taking pics of the wind chimes i just finished and my mom said something about a huge herron. i kept saying i didn't see it and she said it looked like a big boulder. do you see the white triangular looking thing way down the driveway where it curves (top left of pic)? that's him watching the water or maybe sunning but i imagine he's watching. i tippy toed down the drive and he let me get right up on him before he flew. i tried to catch him flying as his wingspan was humongous but he sneaked across before i could capture him and is hiding on the other side of the drive now. guess that means there are some fish in that bayou. kim

wow, cool shot, Kim! they are normally very shy birdies and quick to take flight when they even think a human is close!

beats the heck out of the black birds i've been trying to shoo away. i'll have to get y'all some shots of them. unbelievable that anyone can have that many in their yard! they are immune to me shaking my ms state cowbell now. but bottle rockets will get them going lol.

Very kewl Kim! Looks like a Great Blue Heron. We have lots around here too. My wife even has to cover her fish pond because they come in the yard and catch all her fish! We get several in for rehab every year and man do we wear face shields when working around them. They are flat dangerous! That darn beak stabs like a dagger. Even the little Black Crowned Night Herons are boogers. We have one as an education bird and when I first met him he bit me bloody a couple of times *L*....mel
