I've gained a TAD, very tiny bit of knowledge over the last few days. Today was the last full day I'd get to take my new pup out for a good hike before some nasty weather may hit us.
Now, keep in mind, I love my critters. In the last 12 months, I put my 29 yr old horse down that I owned 25 years, my 13 year old German Shepard that went everywhere with me and my 15 year old Sheperd mix.
I got a new pup a few weeks before Christmas. He's a heinz 57, but he goes everywhere with me almost, named Zeus.
I went to the Little Piney River and started picking up some rocks. We started hiking and then all of a sudden a Bald Eagle was flying right in front of us. I left the camera in the truck of course. We walked quite a ways in, saw the eagle another time and found some good trout fishing holes.
On the way back Zeus was obsessed with going down this one embankment towards the water, no big deal so let him. He got a few feet and kept sniffing, then started screaming. I had no idea what was happening, but long story short as it was quite the rescue to get to him, he got his back leg into an animal trap. It was an old rusty trap and I had a hard time getting it open. He survived and I'm not sure I'm over it. Amazingly, he has no cut and not having any pain in that leg. I think he got very lucky in the fact it was so rusty and probably didn't shut hard like it was meant to.
On the way home, I realized something is wrong wiht my truck, we haven't got that one figured out yet.
I got home and went to my parents house to tell them what had happened about Zeus and about the eagle and mom came out crying to tell me my brother may have colon cancer. We won't know anything for sure for another few weeks.
It's been a long day and I've come home to my stress relief of reading about rocks. My walk in the woods was wonderful until the close call with Zeus, but all in all, thrilled we went for the walk as Zeus had a lot of fun, I had fun and he's already forgotten what happened to him! I'll say a lot of prayers for my brother.
I'm already meeting some wonderful people on this board, so figured I'd share a sort of personal story there.
