Ah come on, Lonewolf - it only happens once or twice a year around here!
I expect it to miss my town by about twenty miles, even if the weather service doesn't agree. But yeah, we'll still have the bitter cold. Brrrrr!

I'm in Dallas/Fr Worth area. Temp down to 43 and falling. Now they say ice tomorrow! Cubbords are stocked, guess we'll survive. Even if it is only once or twice a year! At least the tumblers are rolling, and the vibe is being noisy. If they stop I know we're in trouble.

Yes, we DFW Texans get pretty freaked out when "ice" is mentioned. I'm a transplanted snowbird from NY and find it really funny the way everyone reacts to cold weather around here. We've got us some fire wood, lots of batteries and plan on fillin' up the bath tubs just in case. As I type this, the rain is pouring down and we are hovering at and just above freezing. BUT, what you have to realize is that because we DON"T get this kind of weather regularly, emergency crews are not set up to handle it. When we first moved down here in the 80's we were amused to see that a "sanding truck" was a couple of cowboys in the back of a pick up shoveling sand on the overpasses! KJ

Well, phooey. It didn't miss us after all. Temperatures not supposed to get above freezing with drizzle all day. And yet Hobbs (20 miles north) is already 38 degrees. Interesting.
Kjohn - I know what you mean about being unprepared - I moved from Kansas (home of the huge ice storms, well, storms period) to here about five years ago. A little rain causes everyone to drive twenty under the speed limit here! Ice shuts everything down!

Outside, here in Snyder, EVERYTHING is a sheet of Ice. One solid sheet over everything exposed. I wouldn't drive today for any reason but an emergency. Like running out of ciggies or somethin'.

Brrrrr! Cold and Gray and very dreary here this AM. I took my rocks that were tumbling in my old observatory out yesterday afternoon since it won't get above freezing for a few more days. I'm at a standstill. Here's a shot out the backdoor here in good ol' Snyder, Texas! Elev. 2431 feet Current Temp. 23F Looking out across the park. I dunno if you can see the pond just down the way, but it is beginning to freeze over in the shallows.

Why did you turn off your tumblers? The heat from the motor and the constant turning should keep it from freezing. Come on man, plug em back in!!! LOL Love the pictures. Where's the snow?? Tonja PS On my way to the beach!!

Yeah, but tonight it will get down to 15 degrees? Are you sure it's ok? I'm skeered!
Snow went north btw....we got off easy really. But, the electricity has been going on and off a few times. My mom's electricity was off about an hour.
