Note the old man's cane, and daddy's other hand is on the grab rope.

I'd never be able to cross that. I see where one board fell, it's sticking up on end just behind and below the first guys back foot.

I crossed a bridge not much different once, and you definitely want to walk on the ropes! If the board breaks, at least you've got the rope to stand on. Ron

I have a serious fear of falling, there's just no way.

no way i'd cross that even if it was in better shape!
how do they build one of those anyway? ron i think that's an old woman not an old man. but either way, if they can cross that bridge they don't really need a cane. maybe it's to catch people when they fall or whack people if they start making the ropes bounce. or just to whack people because they have to cross that old rickety bridge lol.

I saw a movie clip one time of how they build them. The ropes are secured up high on one end and pitched down to river level. Small ropes at their ends are paid out of a boat crossing the river. These are used to pull the larger ropes across on the other side. The ends of the larger ropes are then hauled up to the high abutment where they are secured. The boards are interlaced in the deck ropes individually starting from one or both abutments. When they are new, they are impressively sturdy pathways. But obviously in this case, maintenance is not a high priority.

That elderly person with the cane walks across that bridge better than I could!
