I've had dial up for the last........um, well since I had a computer for internet......windows 3.1 days.
Less than 2 weeks ago I got DSL, then we got the ice storm and power was out off and on, then DSL was down. Now for the last week, I've had working DSL while at home. I have been a surfing fool!
I had no idea that on firemountain's site when you scrolled over a pic, a larger one appeared.
And now.......I have been looking at rocks and wraps on here. I never had the patience to do it before, I'd go to a thread, and would anxiously await the gorgeous pics, then after getting to see a few after 30 min........sigh, you get the picture.
Tonight I've been surfing the wire wraps and all I can say is wow! There is some awesome talelnt on this board!!!!
Thank God for DSL!

Yeah, that dial up stuff is definitely for the dinosaurs! Once I got DSL than Cable, I could never, never go back!

Hey Cher, I'm paying less than $18/mo for my DSL and it's the faster service, not just basic DSL. I said goodbye to dial up long ago. But I can understand the frustration of dial up and I try to keep my posted pics as small as possible.

A long time ago (in computer terms, not real time) I had a CompuServe account when BBS and email were relatively new. It was text only at around 300 baud, I think. You could see the individual letters pop up as the line displayed across the screen. Back when DOS and CGA displays were the things to have. Anyway, now I have DSL and it is only $5 a month more than what I was paying for dialup from the same ISP.

For me to get DSL, I would have to change my phone company and the cost would be just slightly higher than what I'm paying for dial-up and a dedicated computer line.
Oh man I so remember that. I used to log into a local bulletin board ... my how things have changed. I remember having WordPerfect that ran from two floppy disks.

Dialup. Ptooie. I got rid of my land line and AOL and the cost to switch to Comcast was about the same.

Yea I can only get cable if I give Time Warner $25,000 to run the line (and of course the monthly fee) DSL is "not available in my area at the current time" and "expected availablity date is: 2025" CAN YOU HEAR ME KNOW? (ok I know that is their Cell Phone slogan- but they are the same dang company)
