Yea we had thunder and lighting- Lets see it was all of -2 this AM- and a 30 MPH wind (no need to figure the wind chill- Freakin COld is what it says on the chart)- Not too much snow (from Friday to today we only got a total of a foot- but more is supposed to be on the way) But the Blowing and the Drifting made it a VERY interesting drive in today.

Well, depending on which website you look at, it's anywhere from -12 to -9 degrees below 0 with wind chills up to -35 right now! They cancelled school this morning (due to the wind chill factor). My Blazer turned over a little slow this morning, but it started. Boy, was it stiff driving to work. My daughter only went about a block and her brakes literally froze up & her car wouldn't move anywhere. After about 20 minutes of idling, they finally "unfroze". The low last night was -17. It is sunny, though. And I thought it was cold walking to and from the bike show in Chicago Saturday! We haven't had this kind of cold since 1996, but we still haven't broke any records that were set in '96! Again...........why did I move to Wisconsin??? Oh, yeah, to see the seasons change.

I don't know which is worse, lots of snow or extreme cold. Right this moment it's no longer snowing but we got between 4 and 6 inches from 7-10 this am so the mayor put the city under travel advisory, no travel unless absolutely necessary....fine by me, I'm not going anywhere. The weather is supposed to move back in this evening and we may get up 12-24 inches in the next 24 hours. What that usually means is some band of area will get that much. Here it can snow on one side of the river and as you cross the bridge the sun is out. Makes it hard to decide if it's safe to go anywhere. Takila, Wisconsin is a beautiful state and I do love the change of seasons.....I'm headed south in a couple weeks for 4 months of work.....and I'm sure I'll be griping about the heat come April.....but for right now, I'm looking forward to a little warmth and no snow and not having to wear 800lbs of clothing to go outside.

Junerev - If you are coming here, make sure you bring a light jacket and maybe some gloves. The cold here is different than up there. Also, bring your umbrella as the rain is here for a while. El-nino effect here so watch out for tornados also. Other than that, come on down, the weather's fine!!! LOL

Tonja, Not headed that far south. Though I do know Orlando weather well. I lived down there back in the late 70's. You could set your clock to the afternoon downpour. I'll be in NC for a couple months and then SC for another month and half or so. SC is only 2 hours from Franklin, NC which has many rock stores.

Ok, since yesterday we got over 34" of snow within the city limits. Now on snow emergency which means I'm not supposed to drive anywhere. East of us a town got over 45". It's still snowing quite heavily but they assure us it's supposed to start moving north about 9 am....I'll believe that when I see it. At least it's warmed up a bit a whole whopping 14 degrees. In a little while I'll have to go out and run the snowblower so that it doesn't get too deep to use it later. At least I have a short driveway. :-)

Man, that's a lot of snow! Thanks to the Great Lakes, I presume! We live on the west side of Lake Michigan, so we don't get lake effect snow very often, at least not in the quantities that you all do! Once in a great while we will, but the winds have to be coming back at us from the East.
I just checked outside and it's lightly snowing right now. I'm kind of surprised because usually when it's this cold (-4 degrees) it's too cold to snow!

Took me 3 hours to snowblow the driveway (and the neighbors). Snow was almost waist deep in the back from the wind. Just as I was finishing the plow came through and put 2 more feet in the mouth of the driveway so I had to finish that. After I was finished, it finally quit snowing and the sun came out. It hit 16 degrees today.

Yea we are up to 10 today- only 2 inches last night- and the wind is Finally settling down- I snowblowed from 4:45 till 7:00 last night- but got my Motherinlaws Kia all dug out and got Most of her upper driveway cleared- got the banks at my house all cut back and even made a circular path in the backyard for the dogs (they start getting a little stircrazy when they can't run around outside) Looks like the worst of this storm is now over- and the temps are supposed to be getting back into the 20's

it was zero here this morning. we have about 18 inches of new snow since tuesday. man, i'm glad i don't live in Mexico, NY...they had almost 5 feet dumped on them tuesday and they are predicting another 3-4 FEET before friday.....
the wind here makes driving treacherous, complete white out in spots. only another eight to ten weeks and we can take the plow blade off the truck, haha.

we got snow and more snow. My husband got up at 4:30 to go to work and it hadn't snowed and wasn't snowing. At 5:30 when he left it was snowing hard and we'd already gotten another 4 inches. Then all day the storm moved northeast then back southwest, then back northeast. I think all in all we got another 8 inches. Yes, Mexico is 7 miles down the road from me, 60 inches. we got 45.

Wow, those "lake effect" snows are beyond my imagination. What the heck do you do with so much snow?
In my area (central Alberta), we've got maybe a foot and a half of snow on the ground. It doesn't snow that often, but it just stays all winter. Snow came to stay on October 27 this year -- 106 days ago, and counting. Snow season is usually several weeks shorter.
Temperature is stuck within a few degrees of 0 degrees F (-18 C) this week. I don't really mind those temps this far into winter, unless there is wind to go with it. We should be much warmer though now that January has passed, about 23 F by day 0 F by night. -Don

As of right now it's not snowing but the storm is projected to move south then north, then south, back and forth all weekend. After the catch up on the plowing, they will come through and cut back the banks. I think they dump the snow in the river, but I'm not sure. I know I am running out of places to put snow. The blower only blows so high and the banks are quite hight at the house. Some people blow into the street but that's 1) illegal and 2) dangerous for people who drive through, to hit a pocket of snow on an otherwise clear road. www.cnn.com/2007/WEATHER/02/08/cold.weather.ap/index.html
