It's not just NY. It's weird everywhere.

Big Brother wants an "idiot proof" world so that more idiots will breed.....i agree with Uncle Steffy, call it a natural selection process...if you can't walk and chew gum at the same time you deserve to get nailed by that bus.
i am so sick and tired of the government trying to make my life trans-fat-free! if i want to overdose on Krispy Kremes, it's my decision!

I guess what they need to do is when you go get your driver's license, besides checking your eyesight, they should also test to see if you can drive AND talk on the cell phone at the same time. If you can't, then you can't get your DL! When you go buy your cell phone or Ipod, you have to pass a test to make sure you can do two things at once, or make you wait 3 days before you're allowed to buy it (like when you buy a gun)!

Maybe they should have special licenses for putting on make up and reading books. Sort of like the ones for truck drivers only more expensive and harder to get.

:)Who hasn't seen a woman putting on eyeshadow or brushing her eyelashes in the visor mirror while tooling through the streets of town? Not a bad idea, Lori.
As for the erosion of personal liberty, that will continue as long as we continue to send legislators to legislatures every so often. Legislate is what legislators do, and all legislation is an infringement on someone's personal liberty. However, the most populous states seem to be the most extravagant leaders in this process, California being the west coast equivalent of New York. It is already spreading north up the coast as the Californians breed and overflow their state borders. Oregon and Washington states both mimic the state of California in many respects.

NC isn't free from it. One time somebody asked my dad what it was like living in rural NC. He said, "If they were giving the world an enema this is where they'd put it."

LMAO- Seems there were actually 2 PEOPLE killed by crossing the street- one wearing an ipod- the other on the cell phone- my take on it is "problem solved" What I think they should do is issue EVERYONE an ipod and a cell phone- then turn em lose in the streets- wouldn't take long to weed em out.

Darwinism in action... Unfortunately one of Houston's busiest freeways was closed this morning because someone was hit and killed trying to cross it. The freeway is 8 lanes wide!!! ..and the person was trying to cross during rush hour... makes me wonder if it his way of committing suicide. I'm always amazed at the risks people think they can get away with.... I guess NY State feels the need to outlaw stupidity.... good luck with that!! lol....

A pedestrian always has the right of way in a cross walk. so why do they want to make it a law you can't listen to music or talk on your phone in a cross walk?
Why then don't they make old farts test like truck drivers? A 80 y.o. man can get behind the wheel of a 45' motorhome and tow a 30' trailer or boat behind him and drive cross country without ever stopping, taking a break or having a log book. A trucker can only drive 11 hours in any 24 hour period. If you are caught, you get big fines and get red flagged for 8 hours.

EARTH!!! Man you are soo right- When I bought my 32 ft trailer- they never even asked me if I had towed before- Hell they never even helped me hook it up!!!! With a 25 foot pickup and 35 feet of trailer (32 ft trailer and 3 foot hitch area) I was 60 FEET of rolling chaos!!!! But yet if a truck driver even farts the wrong way the DOT just about pistol whips ya!!! Yup something just not right with this picture!
