I beg to differ about them being hyper. We have had 3 now. Lacy, Jargon and now Sadie. All of them are couch potatos. They can get hyper if you roust them to be. They like to play for a bit then they sleep. Just like tonight, Takila went to a party for almost 5 hours, both Lacy and Sadie laid on the bed and slept. When she got home they ran to the door and jumped, just to go out. 10 minutes later, they are back on the bed ready to go to sleep again.

They're getting their batteries good and charged up. Lori Hahaha. Love it. That's cool that they are couch potatoes... at least your not having to dig em up. Great animals.

Oh boy! Did I speak too soon! My hyper-active little female parrotlet has been acting peculiar lately. I snuck a peek in the nest box earlier this evening and there's 4 little tiny eggs in there.
It could wind up looking like a set from an Alfred Hitchcock movie in here.

Sadie is fitting in nicely. Lacy and Sadie are starting to play fight, though Sadie does have food and toy aggression issues. We have two bowls for food sitting on opposite sides of the kitchen, but Sadie wants to keep going back and forth to each bowl which then Lacy gets ticked at her and they get into it. We gave each dog their own rawhide chewie, but Sadie wants both and they got into again. Sadie is on the skinny side, so maybe it's just cuz she's hungry and wants to make sure she gets enough food. Other than that, she is pretty much potty-trained and does know how to "sit". When my mom and brother came over to meet her yesterday, she had no problem with strangers whereas Lacy still has to adjust each time they come over. We watch the Dog Whisperer alot, so we are using his techniques regarding the food aggression.
They say JRT's are not for the beginner dog owner. We've either been real lucky and ours have not been as hyper as others or else we don't see them as being out-of-control hyper. I definitely could see them taking advantage of a not so assertive dog owner. If you watch the Dog Whisperer, he sees that all the time, where the owners do not take control and do not take leadership over their dogs. JRT's are not for the wimpy.....both E-dog and I have pretty strong personalities and I think our dogs know it. If you baby any dog, they will take advantage of you, from a little Chihuahua to a large German Shepherd. JRT's are big dogs in little bodies! And they don't realize it! Jargon wanted to take on our shepherd mix a couple of times. We would just laugh and say Buster will kick your butt!

LMAO- Takila- She is already potty trained and she has a few issues- Heck even Earth ain't that well trained yet, and he has TONS of issues!!!! JRT's are not an easy dog- but with patience and understanding they are one of the most LOYAL breeds around!!! I have a scottie (another earthdog breed) and he is WONDERFUL- not at all typical (scotties tend to be standoff-ish and stubborn) he is super friendly and very easy going- But we worked with him from early on- and focused on his issues- Glad things are working out with the puppies!
