OK I'm all about the buscuit thing- That I got- Grits- well I never tried them- But I HATE Cream of Wheat (I call it cream of hairball) But I love oatmeal (instant and the good old fashion kind that has to boil) so I'm not sure whare I would stand with the grits thing- I think I may have to ask for a recipe (I have this image of boiling cornmeal??) now what is hominey???

i get it, i get it! sam wasn't really a southerner cause no southerner would put sugar on their grits!
stefan hominey is something you serve to mess with your guests heads. the dog won't even eat it afterward. i think skunks might eat it.

Gross!

Hominy is about the same size and shape as corn kernels except it's slimey on the outside. I just can't handle that. It's not that it tastes bad but I really don't like the feel of it.
To each his (or her) own.

Uh.... I always thought Grits was just ground Hominy. In fact we always called 'em Hominy grits. Of course my mother used to make me eat all kinds of nasty stuff... Hominy, Spinach, Collard Greens, boiled Okra (nasty!), Squash, etc... The list goes on..... But I always liked Grits!! ...w/butter, salt & pepper... but I bet it would be pretty tasty w/butter & brown sugar!

Lima beans, now that is a nasty food, my dog wouldn't even eat my lima beans. So is liver.....We had to eat that all the time when we were young.
As for spacegold, nothing he says should even matter to any of you people, from what I have seen most of the people here are above all of his nonsense. Now if someone I knew and had grown to respect was posting negative comments about me or someone I knew, I would be very hurt but there is very little chance that I would ever respect a person that finds it necessary to belittle another in public. Its a shame he has alienated so many here that in the past enjoyed conversing with him but let that be his loss, what he says doesn't even make a microscopic speck of a difference so if you can keep that in mind as you happen upon any of his posts, you'll be able to smile shake your head and move on.

Lima beans are okay in mixed veggies but I'm not wild over them by themselves. Kind of bland. Peas, carrots, corn and greenbeans really help them along. Butter, salt and pepper don't hurt either.
I've heard they are the same thing as butterbeans but they taste different to me. I like butterbeans. They make good soup.

grits are smashed up hominy...i just remember grandma giving us hominy that was nothing like the grits mom gave me...i think it has some to do with the way they are ground up...plain hominy is slick kinda..not much good for eating.
lima beans..and butterbeans...cooked with a hamhock..or a bunch of renderd bacon....oh man thats good....dont eat no canned stuff....dried or fresh only....same with black eyed peas and stuff....hamhock or bacon ;D...and a good batch of fatback..yumyum.
we eat grits and gravy a lot...specially with fried fish...and birds...quail....dove and such..and its never just grits...
its always grits and eggs....grits and quail....grits and bacon....grits and cheese...grits and gravy...grits and butter....never just grits.
dont eat no chitterlings....but them pickled pig feet...and tripe fried up are what i was raised on...that stuff is gross but so good...chicken gizzards...oh heck ya.
hates liver and onions....but a fried chicken liver...pass the hot sauce...thats some good stuff....thats enough for now...kev.

Pigs feet--bleh!!! My mom used to love those boiled. My word for that dish is "glue." And Elmer's smells way better than that. When she would cook those I would go to a friends house and stay as late as possible to give the smell time to disapate.
I like my pork a little farther up the leg like say--ham! I'll take a pork shoulder over feet anyday.
