Well I had to break down and buy a new computer...I got tired of having to reset mine every five minutes when it got too hot. I'm eventually gonna get the hard drive out and in this one, but it will be awhile.
I'm not too sure about the new Window's Vista. Its kind of a pain to navigate.
Anyone else using it yet?

I haven't heard or read anything good about it yet. I agree Stef, I think it's a step backwards.

My son works in the computer field as a tech. He is windows certified and when I asked him about Vista he said...wait two years so they can get the bugs worked out. He has refused to replace XP with Vista in the computers at the company he words at. I think I will wait a few years...I trust my son who knows more about computers than I do.

Tom... He must be a great tech!! I manage the workstations for my company (central management of over 3,000 PCs world wide) and I refuse to upgrade my systems to Vista. Won't upgrade to IE 7 either... it's not compatable with our ERP system ( i won't mention the name of the ERP software ... just think Delphi).
I think it's very sound advice to wait for a year or 2 before upgrading unless you don't have a choice... . That's always been my policy....

The only reason we got Vista on the new machine was because the Vista laptops were cheaper than the Windows ones. It saved us about $300.
So far there's no problems. Knock on wood. I agree with your son, Pho. Unless there's a good reason not to you should give them time to work the bugs out. I still remember when they switched from 3.11 to naming the latest Windows after the year it was born. What a mess!

Yea I don't understand Micro$oft- Any other company that relesed such shotty merchandise would be forced to issue recalls- and be subject to Massive class actions suits (can you imagine FORD selling cars that had gas tanks that exploded with the slightest rearend collision??-- oops guess that may have happened).

Forget the Vista! In fact, forget the Windows! I won't even use XP.

I'm hoping the guy who is gonna install my old hard drive will be able to put XP on the vista drive...my software doesn't want to work on it. But wasn't much I could do unless I wanted to wait...and well I don't wait well...

he said...wait two years so they can get the bugs worked out. That seems the way to do it with just about all tech stuff now, from HDTV's, software, digi cams, etc. Good advice. Ron, Linux is the way to go? Don't know much about it but you don't want Billy to go hungry do you? Ha ha!!!

Hey Baz, I use linux 95% of the time now. I'm still working on that last 5%, but it's coming along.

If you're having trouble using Vista, take a look at this, might make you feel better... or worse? ;D

I wish I hadn't had to deal with it yet. My head boss - owner's son - loves all things new, bright, and shiny. We're switching everyone over to Vista, slowly. Our accounting software - Microsoft's own product - isn't Vista ready yet, and that's been my only reprieve.
Granted, we already have people bringing their Vista machines in to be serviced, so it's nice to have some familiarity with the program besides the Beta version we test drove a year ago!

I loathe anything that comes from Microsoft. They stole everything from Apple and butchered it up. I started with an Apple machine and I'll stay with Apple.
