Hello everyone,
I sure hope everyone out there is warm and safe. We are currently in the middle of a winter blizzard. Half of our city is without power. I am hoping our power doesn't go out. Chances are it may as we had a thunderstorm with freezing rain for hours before the snow started. I can't even remember the last time there was thunder, lightening, freezing rain and snow all in one day, but we have it now and will well into sunday. Stay safe everyone as it's not good here in the midwest Iowa.

I've been wondering about you Debs, you're not that far from my daughter and she was telling me how bad it was. She said they had a half inch of ice on everything but were very lucky as they still had power too.
Warren, I'm so glad to hear you missed the worst of that yesterday. We had a little freezing rain on and off yesterday but it wasn't too bad. I don't think we got two inches of snow and that is just blowing all over, terrible winds here. Haven't heard how things are in the cities yet, hope it's not too bad.
Be safe everyone.

I can't imagine what that is like. Part of me wants to really experience it, but the smarter part of me says not to. I'm leaning towards my dumber part of my brain.

I can't believe it, I've actually got 4 inches of real snow on the ground today. That's about 4 inches more than I've goten all winter so far. All I've had before now is lake effect snow, and that's just not the same thing. Lake effect is good if you already have a base of real snow.

It was snowing here at 6 AM and as of now it is snowing heavily and I think we had 6 inches of snow before noon. A lot of the stores are closing for the day, and they are talking that the storm is not moving and staying right over us, which means we will get dumped on. Now they are talking 12-18 inches of snow. The wind is starting to pick up now, and it is to get much stronger the rest of the day. We still have power, so we are ok in that department. It has been a long time since we have had a good old fashioned blizzard. I only hope that the fire dept and ambulance crews do not have any calls for a few days! I will continue to keep you posted. Good to know your ok Jan, I saw that your side of the state is really bad and they are closing the roads. My grandson had surgery this morning so I'm waiting to hear that they got back home before it hits bad on the east side of the state.
PS ... It's not bad up here, we've had very little snow yet, just really bad winds.
