Sands, the law is the same here in AZ, open-carry. (and a concealed permit is only an 8 hour class and 200 bucks) Just so you know if you keep headin' west!
The first time I had a side arm exposed and a police officer passed by it just seemed odd. When you get pulled over and you have a pistol on the passenger seat, you let 'em know. They just nod and continue to write you the ticket! Ha!
I love the West!

Sheesh, of all places you would think Texas would be like that. We have to coceal our guns. I've always thought that an open gun will deter many more crimes than a concealed one.

Texas used to be that way but those folks in Austin think they're in freaking California.
Nothing agin' you Californians....lived there 14 years myself.

Yeah, I know. I'm not sure when it happened, but sometime in the last 40 years someone turned the U.S. on it's end and all the loose nuts rolled to Austin.

DANG- In NY it takes about 1 and 1/2 YEARS to get a permit- You still can't carry (concealed or otherwise) A carry permit takes at least another 1/2 year (and an appearence in court and a COMPLETE background screening and about $1000) I just gave up and walked into the Local DICKS sporting goods and bought 2 Marlin .22's (the guy gave me a funny look when I requested 2 of them- and 5000 rounds to go with em!!!!) I love shooting- I'm planning (much to my Wife's dismay) to teach my daughter this summer- My son actually won a shooting Compitition in Boy scouts (kid went 24 for 25 on the skeet field- Man was I proud)

I bought my wife a Marlin .22, it is a lot of fun and you can't beat the price on plinkin' ammo for the .22. The Marlin is nice but I love my Ruger 10/22!!! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I have a 1923 Czech Mauser 8mm that isn't much fun, after about 5 rounds you are sore! KA'BLAM! Good for you Stefan, teach them young and they will learn safety and to respect the firearm. I have taught several folks to shoot and I always start out by saying, "It only takes one mistake to kill someone." It sounds jarring and that is the point. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) (Right Mr. Chaney? Well I guess he didn't kill anyone but damn sure could have.)
