I am sure all of you have heard about the cats and dogs that are dying all over the U.S. because of toxins in canned dog and cat food. Apparently some supplier of toxic gluten has been selling it's goods to several reputable animal food companies who then mixed it in with their products. At least that is the latest theory on what happened. At any rate, it has killed a lot of cats and dogs by shutting down some of their organs in a matter of days. I have two links below, one for the list of recalled cat food and the other for dog food. Any of you who haven't checked out the list and are feeding your animals canned food would be smart to check the list immediately. There are already lawsuits flying over this idiotic oversight, and some are saying that there was a significant delay before the recall was made, while "test" animals were dying after eating the food. I really hate to see people losing their pets over something as careless as this! Can you imagine how you would feel if it was your animal that died this way? www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.htmlwww.menufoods.com/recall/product_cat.htmlVance

With 60 million cans of food being recalled two weeks after the food first became suspect, I can only imagine how many other cats and dogs died while their owners had no idea why. I'll bet that there were a hell of a lot more than 10 deaths, mainly because the pet owners would never think to contact the FDA when they had no idea why their pets had died. Not that I would ever trust the FDA to give an accurate account of the number of deaths anyway.

I know there were other cats treated for renal failure. I don't know about dogs, though.

i bet it is more than the reported number too. when the heartworm shots were killing animals it just disappeared quietly off the market but too late for alot of pet owners. some figured out what was going on and i bet many more never did know what happened.
