I've been getting some odd sized eggs from one batch of chickens I have. I've gotten some really large ones and then one chicken or at least each day I go out, been getting some smaller eggs. Today......this is a bit ridiculous... The 2 "larger" eggs are a regular sized egg, like the Large eggs you buy at a store.

I think there's a pigeon on your chicken coop, LOL. What lays the green eggs?

Different types of chickens can lay all kinds of different colored eggs. Purple to green. As for the small egg, I can remember seeing small eggs from time to time back when we had a bunch of chickens.

LOL....... The green one is from my aracauna chicken aka: easter eggers, they can lay blue, green and pink eggs. Mine lay green to bluish green eggs. I only have 2. I just thought it was funny on how small that egg was, it's not abnormal, but not common either.

Guess there's always an eggception to the rule. I like the way you posted the pictures to show us some eggzamples in sizes. I'll bet they will turn out eggstreamly tasty with ham, particularly if you add eggstra pepper. Better quit now before I eggceed my limit of eggstordinarily corny jokes. Glad I'm still married, because otherwise I would have to call the former wife an eggs-wife.

After seeing the green and other colored eggs, I now realize that I was under a misconception. I thought all those colorful chicks they sell at Easter were dyed. Now I see they were born those colors.

Chinook, did you ever think a simple little egg post would dEGGenerate this badly? What a hoot! (I only asked about the green eggs, because I happen to have some in my fridge. I do buy farm fresh eggs, when they are available. The gal I bought them from sEGGested that I eat them with ham.)
EGGcellent replies, I was chuckling grEGGariously! Beef, what a hoot! I was spitting the green eggs on the keyboard!
Condor, I'm tryin, but I'm simply not as EGGceptionally gifted with rEGGpartee.
And, all you EGGstemporaneous folks, I'm seeing another fun contest idea. Just an EGGlectic thought.

I have a mix of all sorts of chicken breeds, sometimes when they get older they start laying some wierd eggs. Those extra tiny ones sometimes don't have yolks too. getting to the end of there laying days , I guess.
On the other hand when they are younger sometimes they lay those huge double yolk eggs. All I can think of when I see those are "ouch"

LOL...when I first saw the egg, thought.......this will generate some conversation on RTH. I was right!
There is one older hen in this batch, so I'm guessing it's her. I've been getting some smaller eggs here and there, so figure it's her.
I have one chicken that non chicken people will get a kick out of, will have to take a picture of her soon!

I have a stupid question, what is the yolk of the egg eggzactly? is it a chick or chick food? I know the white is food, but what is the yolk? and what part is the chick?

oh tell her, stef. don't be such a chicken. She won't squawk much. I hate to nag you and be such a mother hen but, seriously, if you've hatched a theory about it, you shouldn't be so hard-boiled about sharing it.
