i know it's not a particular favorite here in the States, but i'm a huge fan. so far it's been a very interesting season despite the retirement of Michael Schumacher.
anybody else gonna be tuned into Monaco coming up?

I used to love F1 racing- Schumacher was one of my FAv drivers- I watched him his rookie season- Canadain TV used to rebroadcast the races at 1:00 AM and the night sky would allow me to get a pretty good signal!! Man even as a rookie that kid could DRIVE (course that was the year the Renault team swept the series-) and Monaco has to be my all time favorite race (that is the city course right?) Unfortunatly I don't get the speed channel on dish- any other stations it might be on??

I still love F1 but the times it comes on are so odd that I never seem to catch them.

I quite like F1 - can't believe the start that our boy Lewis Hamilton has made!! Not bad for your first few races eh?

All the way back to Stirling Moss when I was a kid, KD. Then Jim Clark and then Stewart. We used to go to the Glen twice a year - for the CanAm weekend in the summer, and to freeze our ass off GP weekend. Rich

I like all forms of racing but follow NHRA Drag Racing the closest.
I had always wanted to see an F-1 race in person so when they announced they were going to run at Indy in 2000 (I think that's when it was), my wife and I went. The start of that thing was one of the coolest things I have ever seen (or heard, or smelled). We don't get the Speed Channel on our cable plan but I watch network coverage of the few they show that way each year. I like the technology and the fact they race all over the world but wish the races were more competitive.
Have a good day all.

Well, Alonso nipped Hamilton for the pole, and Massa is third on the grid.
Looks to be a good one.

I remember a race quite long ago, at Monaco. Nigel Mansel (my favorite those years) was in the seccond place and for the last 3...4 laps he closely followed the leader (don't remember who was). He did't manage to take the lead, but when he stepped out of the car he almost fell down like a drunk man. Two guys from the staff helped him to stand. Then I realised how many mental and physical concentration requires this sport. Maybe it's the F1's evolution, maybe it's ours ... but it doesn't seem the same now.

tough break for Kimi today, Maclaren team was brilliant. i think Monaco is one of the most brutal tracks for a drivers and the cars, pretty nice looking place tho!
FYI North America...the next 4 races will be broadcast on FOX Network, not Speedvision!!! Speed will be covering the qualifying, etc, but not the main race. next up is the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on 10 June.
i will have my fingers crossed for Lewis Hamilton on his home track on July 8!

I just saw the last part of today's race (missed the big crash). For me, F1 is the most interesting to watch. As others have said, it's on somewhat early here and I usually miss a good part of it before I remember to turn it on. I don't necessarily follow any particular driver, but do take a passing interest in Raikkonen and Kovalainen, only because they are from my ancestral homeland.

Thought I was watchin' an old-time demolition derby. If I was the steward I woulda had Alonso pulled over for a breath test, he spent so much time off the track.
As for Kubica's horrendous crash - I read he's got a concussion and a sprained ankle. He's a lucky man. I thought he hit the wall a hundred times harder than Earnhart.

It was a great day (weekend) for race fans whatever your favorite happens to be. IRL and Busch Series Saturday night; Champ Car, NHRA, NASCAR (though I hate rain shortened events) and F1 on Sunday.
I saw a little while ago that the guy that crashed in the Canadian F1 race has been dismissed from the hospital and claims he will be in Indy to race this weekend. Time will tell. That was one of the worst looking accidents I've ever seen. I guess the tub, break-a-way parts and all the other safety features performed just as they are supposed too.
I know NHRA, NASCAR and F1 all race again this weekend, not sure about the rest.
Later,

it is amazing that Robert Kubica only had a sprained ankle and a minor concussion after that horrendous crash. a tribute to the engineering technology that goes into the sport.
i am disappointed that Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella got black flagged over (in my opinion) a minor technicality. too many rules, not enough racing!
