I have no idea.
What we need is someone who speaks Spanish to translate it for us!

That's wild! I had to find out so I did a little searching and found a longer version of the video that showed the name 'Pesca Rondonia' at the beginning. I searched that name which led me to this site: make sure your pop-up blocker is on www.snopes.com/photos/animals/fishfly.aspaccording to the Snopes site the Pesca means 'fishing' and Rondonia is a state in Brazil. *clipped* "The footage was taken in the Guaporé region, on a portion of the Mequens River inside the Porto Rolins Park (a protected conservation area) where fishing is forbidden. The jumping fish shown in the video are matrinxã a Brazilian fresh water species" Dan

We have them here in the US as well. They are an invasive species. Here is another video.
I'm thinking of a new product: Fishing Helmuts. ;D

Uh huh, I was right, it's illegal. Hope they threw them all back. Has anyone else watched the Animal Channel, where the retired US G&P guy talks about his experiences? It is a hoot.

Kim, An invasive species is one that takes over everything and everywhere. Oriental Bittersweet is an invasive plant in many states in the USA,,,,,,,,,, Zebra Mussels are an invasive type of marine life The bottom of a boat,,,,, The prop and lower unit of an outboard motor from the same boat as above,,,,, Mexicans are an invasive people entering the USA illegally by the thousands,,, And as you know,,,,,, Rocks can be very invasive as well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, connrock Tom

John, I watched that stupid thing so many times for a long time now and every time that guy gets hit in the head by a fish I go spastic!!
The Mexican thing is totally out of hand.Even way up here in CT you see them every where. If you go to places like the Home Depot early in the morning there is always 50 or so waiting for someone to pick them up for a job,,,,,any job!
Heck,I live in a VERY small town and I see local landscapers hiring Mexicans every day! They're on the back of every garbage truck too!
The Mexicans are for sure being exploited by American business and if out govt would get off their butts and start fining the employers big time ,the problem would solve itself!!

I was listening to a fishing show on the radio this afternoon and they where talking about the Asian Carp, the fish in the video. They hadn't seen them in Minnesota yet but they are expecting them soon. It may be illegal to put them back in the water once you catch them. There are a couple kinds of fish in Minnesota that we can't throw back.

rockygibralter, There are so many different animals, insects and plants entering this country that don't belong here and a lot of them are dangerous to our environment.
I have a cousin who is a marine biologist for the state of NY and was assigned the enormous task of getting rid of the lamprey eels in Lake Ontario. After almost 3 years of study and living out on the Lake he had almost found a safe way to get rid of them but still needed more time and of course money to finish the project. To make a long story short. The Fed's cut off the money for it to the state and the state shut down the project.
I don't know if it has been started up again as this all took place some 10-15 years ago.
The Asian carp will win the battle as well.Once a species spreads out as far as they have I doubt if any program can or would stop them.
Theres some sort of Asian beetle eating the trees in New Your City and they can't be stopped either,,,,,,and then theres the Killer Bees!!!!

Ya why can't bass and walleyes take over the rivers and lakes? ;D
Yep, there is getting to be alot of critters around that don't belong. Around here they released the Asian Beetle to take care of the aphids. Well, now the beetle has over run the whole country side. They should have thought a little harder before doing that.
The Lamprey is such a freaky animal. They are in the rivers around lake superior. The Department of Natural Resources has been trying to keep them under control but thats about all they can do. It's too bad that your cousin couldn't finish his work.
