Anyone with a flat screen monitor ever experience this?
My son noticed the other day that when he looks at some images, like on ebay, the pics are all pixelated. It doesn't happen to his photos, like the ones he's taken with his camera, just seems to be online.
Now this morning I was chatting with him in MSN and his display picture was all pixelated, even for me, yesterday it was fine. This is so weird.

I've had my flat screen for a few months now, every now and then I've noticed some pictures different, probably what you're meaning. I haven't looked enough to know if it's a certain type or size that does it though. Sandy

Are you sure the image is not bad quality?

Are you sure the image is not bad quality? Nathaniel Nope, the images are his own. They look fine through is photo viewer but on eBay when he looks they are all pixelated.

Sometimes that's the way a picture downloads while surfing on the net. During downloading, the image refines itself till it reaches the normal resolution (in few secconds). Could this be your problem?

Yup - what Adrian said. If the images are larger in size (Kb - not pixels) some sites will go through a scaling process to load. If it's too large in size, some sites will restrict it - or show a reduced resolution. That's what creates the pixelated image. Also - if the image is smaller than the "hole" it's filling, some sites will stretch the image - also creating a pixelated effect. If most images appear okay on your monitor, the problem isn't the monitor.

I'm not sure what to think, it was fine one day and screwy the next. On his auctions, they were fine on his monitor for several days before going screwy so if it was the result of ebay changing sizes it would have been from the day he posted the auctions. Same with his picture on messenger, it was fine one day then screwy the next. *sigh* It's just weird.

Hmmm, if it's on and off then it may be due to display driver settings changing...? This will happen a lot when you go from desktop mode to playing full screen games. The switch back to desktop mode could produce some minor glitch leading to persistent "display artifacts" when rendering graphics, but hey, that's just a theory, weird things would sometimes happen on my system with the displayin those situations. A restart always smartened it up until the next time I did it. Right now I have a top of the line Sceptre LCD monitor and I do notice that there is more discernable contrast in the dark areas than is usually visible with a CRT monitor. Viewing dark JPG's at an odd angle can also produce a sort of pixelizing looking effect. Not sure if that's what you are talking about but whatever it is I hope it's not a bunky monitor.

also check the refresh rate- Our flatscreens at work sometimes freak out like that- A lot has to do with other background programs that may be running- we tweaked the refresh rate (I think we sped it up) and it took care of a lot of the problems

If all else fails... try reseating the video card if it's not a built in component. Sometimes expansion cards will get loose in the slot and what you describe could be a symptom of what's called 'card walk'.
Just make sure you touch something metal to discharge any static electricity before going into the PC case.

Believe it or not, the whole problem was the result of not having cleared the temporary internet files on his computer. Once he went in to internet options and deleted the files it cleared right up. Go figure!!
