Not meaning in any way to be rude, but if you don't elaborate on what trend you are concerned with, how can anyone comment on it? I buy a lot of rock on ebay and have been mostly very happy. I haven't seen any obvious trends, but I've only been on ebay two or three years. -Don

basically the way there packaged,i seem tobe getting alot of slabs that arrive broken, and of course no ins. is being offered and the quality is not what one would, even after wetting,i deal with alot of rock and purveyors, and most are REALLY consistant, but some after a couple of deals are just,it seems to me,to just dump there excess inventory

I haven't experienced your problems, and I hope it is only a few sellers with this issue. Most of the folks I've bought from have packaged things very well and I have not received any broken slabs. A few sellers use overkill packaging, while a few others do not pack things well, but I haven't seen any trends there, just depends who you deal with. Overall, the sellers I've dealt with have packed things well, and since most of my purchases are from outside Canada and there is no insurance offered on cross-border postal packages, I really have to rely on the integrity of the seller, and they've been pretty good.
If you are having problems, I suggest you dump the problem sellers and purchase your slabs from a different seller who is willing to take a little more care packaging them up.

Buyer beware, as they say. Read the small print, too!

there are some sellers i avoid completely after being sold shoddy and/or ill packaged goods, and then there are some i will buy from consistently for quality material and good shipping habits. i've never left anyone negative feedback, i just don't do business with them anymore.

I too have had this problem with some e-bayers. If burned I don't say anything but I will not buy from them again. I have found that I usually buy from about 15-20 e-bayers that I know and trust. If they don't have the material I'm looking for, I will often e-mail them and ask if they have what I'm looking for.
Here is another hint for ya: If you see something you like, send them an e-mail and ask if they have more, then offer to buy it outside of e-bay. This allows you to get it without fighting the e-bay bidding nuts and the seller doesn't have to pay e-bay for the sale. I've done this a few times and it works great.
