Well I got the call on Saturday that they were planning on starting to dig on Monday... Here are the pics of the progress of the new in-ground pool - my lot is between the white string on the right & the green grass on the other side. Umm maybe I should have mentioned that it rained all Sunday afternoon & that evening so they didn't start digging today - but this is where it'll go ;D I'll post pictures as it progresses... I hope it gets done fast DAY 1 - the digging part Here is what went on this morning - BTW any one wanting a pool beware the mess they make - note the pile on the right and my driveway is a horrid mess Steve that isn't a sauna (which I would love, it's my puny shed) An extra $700 later, the dump truck was not able to be used cuz it kept sinking in the lawn so for an extra $700 they brought in a back hoe to move the earth to the truck... the next door is gonna fall in there at some point- his grandfather doesn't even watch him - I'm the one who has to tell him to keep away - I can,t believe that! More to come - see pics below for DAY 2

Wow, Tweet, I wish my tumbled stones would get ready with the speed your pool does!
Adrian
PS. Sorry about the curiosity, does the Canada climate allow you to use an open pool? Or maybe you heat the water a little bit?

Adrian, you can have an open pool but the season is relatively short - a water heater is about $3K more - I'll use the solar blanket instead - besides up here we swim when the water's only about 74 F - you get used to cold water pretty fast otherwise you'd never use the pool - this one will get much use

Hey Tweetie, I bet hubby will like taking care of that pool a lot more than he liked mowing the grass where it's going! What the heck, around here, water warmer than 74 degrees F is bath water. We swim in any water that doesn't crack when we land on it. (And even that doesn't always stop us!) Ron ps. Yeah I'm jealous. Next hot spell I just might be riding the bike over for a dip!

Here's DAY 2 - rained this AM and didn't think they'd finish digging but they were here at 7AM to dig and put in the forms - they left and the other team showed up to dig trenches & put in the weeping tile. Tomorrow they pour the concrete & put in the concrete sidewalk around the pool (weather permitting) Friday they install the liner & fill'er up! BTW the pictures look small cuz the pictures are taken from our 3rd level loft!

That will be great. It has a nice straight forward layout. With the heater accessory could you keep it warm through the winter? Jill and I have dreamt of having a pool but we always have a bigger fish to fry somewhere.

Actually now they'll be pouring (but not today I suspect since it's gonna rain today) but we also have to fix the lot up a bit since they'll be putting up a fence soon

Well here we are at day 3 of the pool (but 7 days later on account of the 6 days of rain we got - yeah that messed up big time) they had to remove all of the sono tubes since they had collapsed under all the rain & the cave ins Here they are smoothing out the cement on the bottom - I wasn,t there but I was told it was quite a thing to see them do - they're also filling in the sides with crushed stone (nothing good I checked the pile ) Here's a closeup Here we are at day 4 - after spending over 2 hours scraping down the concrete & the side and washing everything down - We're at the filling part - we now have 4 hoses in there - they've been going since 10:30 this AM and we're not even close to being done - but we have to leave that big noisy thing on the lower right side to suck the air out of the sides of the pool - it's very noisy - like the a busy workforce but only louder. We put in 2 of our hoses & 2 from the neighbours - tomorrow & over the weekend we'll continue filling it up (no rush since the past few days have been close to the freezing point anyways). We spent the day filling in the big tire tracks in the yard & driveway - the yard is a total mess and hubby keeps changing his mind about what to do - but it won't involve grass We've opted for the salt system instead of chlorine - no more chlorine hair & suits. Maybe by the end of the summer I'll be able to post pictures of the finished yard.

Hey Tweetie, I got to hand it to you, filling a pool with a garden hose is quite feat! If you are using well water, I hope you don't burn your pumps out. Around here, people normally have a tanker truck come in with water and fill it. Then you can use your hose to keep it topped off. How long do you figure your season is there? My swimming season here was always so short, but maybe the global(?) warming is helping things out. Our swimming season has definitely been longer the last few years. I got to say, that sure is looking good! You've got yourself one hell of a pool there!
