This respect thing has gotten completely out of hand,I guess i`m old school. It seems everybody wants respect now. When i was growing up i was taught to respect my elders, and people in high places, why because of what they went thru to get where there at. Nowadays a person breaks into an elderly lady`s home and robs her of what little money she has and then demands respect. I just have one thing to say to these people that demand respect."Kiss My Royal Irish A--" If you want my respect you got to earn it. Just like i had to do. Thanks for letting me vent my feelings Rocky

You got an Irish ass too huh? lol... ;D I agree Rocky... Respect is a rare commodity these days. To me it's just like trust... I'll give a little at first but to gain my trust and respect fully those qualities must be nurtured. It can be very difficult if not impossible to rebuild trust and respect once they are destroyed.... Dan

l have a little different view on "respect" my respect of another is "given" its my values that l base respect on,you can't earn my respect and you probably won't "convert" my thinking to your view point but unless you voice an opinion l would never know if l agree, just be kind to each other and leave conversion to the proper place, hope that made sense, lol,E

Yes sir, no mamm, please, thank you, may I, and so many more. It's up to us as adults, and in my case as a teacher too, to teach this to our young ones. If that's too many, then these should suffice, and the rest will follow. No lieing, cheating, or stealing. It's a simple concept.

I "Respect" everyone. I respect everything about everybody especially beliefs, religion, belongings, family, etc.
You lose my respect through certain actions. Robbing an elderly(or young) ladies (or man or boy or girls) house will cause you to lose that respect very quickly. Cheating like Barry Bonds or Mark McGuire will lose that respect. Treating others with disdain or as inferior beings will lose that respect. Bullying or harming others will lose that respect. Taking advantage of others especially that have less capabilities will lose that respect. Doting on false gods (e.g., Paris Hilton, Bradgelina, Don Trump, Designor labels) will lose that respect

are you sure? I thought it was MacGywer. I think sometimes respect has as much to do with shutting up as speaking out.

There is a greeting used in India... 'Namaste'. Essentially it means; the divine in me honors and recognizes the divine in you. Pretty simple really but it expresses so much.
So... to ALL my fellow rockers... Namaste

Nowadays you those who just killed someone for no reason say "well, he dissed me." Dissed meaning disdrespected , of course. Like everyone else, I agree that you earn respect, you are not granted it. But when you think about it, these dissed hoods are not talking about respect at all, they are talking about fear. What they really mean is that you did not show that you fear them. They already know that they do not deserve respect, so by doing something to piss them off, you are really showing that you do not fear the retaliation from them. Then the bullets start flying.

I love learning new things. "Namaste". How beautifully simple and good. Thanks Blarneystone.
Now I'm going to go sing along with Aretha: R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Find out what it means to me...
