I'm confused. I am signed in forever, too, but my name wasn't listed. Does that mean I'm not really here? Was I in my alternate Universe? Where am I? Is any one out there? Is any one out there with me? Maybe Condor has the answers.

I suspect they are mostly bots or crawlers. If they were real people, they all wouldnt be in that forum at the same time. When the two other people signed in were not in that forum. They just happened to be crawling that forum when you checked. And the proboard only recogizes you are on when your cookie to sent to the server. This only happens when you actaully visit the url in question. If your not on the site, it wouldnt read you as a logged in member.

UPDATE ON THIS
The largest number is now over 70!
Today at some time around 4pm RTH time.
What is going on! This is starting to freak me out! Time to put on the foil hats again folks! Stock up on canned food and bottles water! Load the shot gun and head for the bomb shelter! The invasion is here!

Cher, how did you manage to put that light blue background color? I have a dark blue and the lines between posts are almost invisible.

Thanks, Adrian Hi Adrian, You can change the colors or skin as it's referred to in your profile. If you prefer the lighter colors, go to your profile, click on modify profile, scroll down to the bottom section and right above "dates and times" you'll see Select Skin. This skin I have is called theblues, it's a different color scheme that I made a couple years ago and asked Mark to add it here. Cher |

I'd have to say that's pretty strange on the bots idea. I have g**gle bots on my forum all the time but they come from the same IP address and only register as one guest. I suppose it still could be, just being registered differently .... then again, why would they start all of a sudden, I never noticed anything like that before.

I'm thinking that the visitors are viewing pages from search engine hits...
One of the jokes in the joke thread starts off : "Warning! This is slightly x-rated, but only if your mind is already in the gutter!" hehehe.... nothing wrong with that of course... it's just generating hits...
I think search engines are finding the term "X-Rated" and generating page views....
Over 7,000 views on the joke thread....

I like your theory Dan. It sounds a lot better and less creepy than "Bots and Crawlers"--especially since I have no idea what "Bots and Crawlers" are. ;D Whatever they may be they sound like something out of sci-fi but then I think this whole internet business of searching and communicating probably sounded like something out of sci-fi not so long ago.
