I THINK THIS A GREAT IDEA. I WILL START WRITING THIS ON FRONT OF ALL MY ENVELOPES, TOO!
You may have heard in the news that the Post Office has been forced to take down small posters that say
" IN GOD WE TRUST "
The law, they say, is being violated.<
Anyway, I heard proposed on a radio station show, that we should all write " IN GOD WE TRUST" on the back of all our mail...after all, that is our national motto, and it's on all the money we use to buy those FORTY ONE CENT stamps. I think it is a wonderful idea.
We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed.
If you like this idea, please pass it on. It has been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God.. There fore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having " In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the pledge of Allegiance.
Could it be that WE just need to take action and tell the 14% to sit down and shut up?
If you agree, pass this on again, if not delete.

actually, i'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state. i guess that puts me in that 14%, huh? don't get me wrong, as far as i'm concerned, people can go pray to any God(s) they choose to believe in.....just don't expect me to be singin' in the choir. and when your religion sanctions killing innocent people who don't follow your beliefs, well then, sunshine, i consider you certifiable nuts.

This just drives me INSANE. You would think a belief in God is a horrible thing and there are those that preach just that. The reason this country is a great nation is because of it's belief in God. Now there are people tearing down that belief and the nation is slowly crumbling. My grandkids will have no chance of seeing the United States of America as I saw it. Our freedoms are being taken away by the bucket loads and we sit here and let it happen.
I'm leaving for a weeks vacation tomorrow and it's probably a good thing. When I brought this subject up, I pissed off a bunch of people. Maybe this thread will be gone by the time I get back.

This nation was built on an Anglo-Saxon God. That was the same God who was being praised while the good god-fearing townspeople of Salem condemned some 20 not-like-us as witches. That was the same God that, although it was acknowledged He created the earth and all things, animate and inanimate, on it, the Native Americans' earthly view of that God was wrong and had to be converted or destroyed. That was the same God who created all men equal but allowed for some being born a little better off and others, born with a darker-hued skin, to serve those better off as slaves. And also kept women from sharing equally in the God-given rights of American citizenry until the 20th century.
The history of the term "in God we Trust" is very interesting and the Founding Fathers would be dumb-founded to learn how contentious a term it has become. The Pledge of Alegiance made no reference to God until the 1950s...when McCarthy and his hate mongering followers attempted to purify this great nation of Communists and any and all other not right-thinking/non-godfearing peoples. Our national anthem, sung to the tune of a British bar-room song, honors a flag unfurled for war, while an incredibly beautiful anthem honoring God is relegated to unofficial use if there is time enough in whatever ceremony.
I have no idea what the future holds for this great nation but I don't want my grandchildren to see America as I saw it--segregated, riot-filled, careless of the environment, careless of the thousands of workers in mines and chemical indutries, careless of our children and their safety by allowing buried contaminants to be used as filler under schools and playgrounds, so confident of its rightness and its pride of place, all the while holding to its trust in God.
I cannot speak for any one else and I'm not comfortable when others speak for me without first checking with me to hear my thoughts and opinions. But I am hopeful that in this great nation, now and for the future, we all will have the right to our own beliefs and opinions.
"In God We Trust" is a nice saying and a catchy motto. But I don't believe it defines America.
I think at one time there was a variant on that phrase...something like: In God we trust, but pass the ammunition."
I trust in God but I don't need to have those words inscribed on my money or engraved on any governmental plaques for that trust to continue. My beliefs are my own and dictate how I live and how I interact with others, regardless of their beliefs. More than any other component of America that all of my many immigrant and/or visiting America family members, friends, students, classmates, co-workers, and social contacts have cited as what makes America so great to them is the privilege we enjoy called FREEDOM. I believe that is what makes America great, and I thank God for my freedom, each and every day.

I am sick of hearing how God did this and God did that. God had nothing to do with any of it. It was PEOPLE that did all that.
Can you find ONE fault in the 10 Commandments? If we had no other laws than those 10, everyone in the world would be better off. It is a perfect set of laws.
Can you find anything wrong with Treat all people the same as you want to be treated?
There are bad Christains, there are bad Jews, there are bad Muslims, there are bad gays, every group has bad people. I am deeply offended when people put all Christains in the same group and say we are all bad. It is the very same people that condemn Christains for all bad things that has happened and for being biased against gays, blacks, and other groups that will sit there on their mighty arrogance and say all Christains are bad.
With that I'm going to go enjoy my vacation. Hopefully a bunch of rocks will mellow me out a little.

Tiptoe through the window By the window, that is where I'll be Come tiptoe through the tulips with me
Oh, tiptoe from the garden By the garden of the willow tree And tiptoe through the tulips with me
Knee deep in flowers we'll stray We'll keep the showers away And if I kiss you in the garden, in the moonlight Will you pardon me? And tiptoe through the tulips with me

Sands,
Well I trust in something - im not sure what it is - but something is out there, and its a LOT bigger than us here. It or what made us.
I dont know what it is ---- and i dont know what what is ---- but theres something out there beyond this bunch of galaxies and space........ and its bigger than anything we know - and the proof is already there because the proof is lying asleep already in the mess we know nothing about.
We know about spacetime, we know about the bigbang, and still - bugger me with a pitchfork - we still dont know what comes after we die.
Im all for a bit of blackness with absolute ZERO comprehension of anything - just

"In God We Trust", sure, but people, that is another thing. I grew up with that slogan as representing the values of this country. I am not so sure it is a beacon for truth, but, it makes one think. I have heard so many truths about the founding fathers. So many different ways they concieved a "perfect world". For myself, I do not want to evengalize the world. I have a tough enough time managing my own space. I donno about all this. I just worry about the next solder job, or diamond set. If we keep on heating up this place we call home, I do not think it will matter much anyway. We will be so busy surviving, esoteric concepts will no longer matter. Maybe a flood is heading this way, and some other creature will become sentient apex being. Who knows. It is good to think of these things though. It makes one look outward. That is good.

Watch out for the monkeys . . . . . I hear they're already scopin' out this board.

Hey, I have no problem whatsoever with whatever people choose to believe in. I also don't give a darn who they choose to cohabitate with. If consenting adults choose to do strange things in the privacy of their own homes, I have no problem with that either, as long as it is legal and does no harm. I also don't want to hear all about it on the news, in a parade, on talk shows, whatever. Does America want all the details of my personal/home life? I think not! I do believe that certain items, such as statues, plaques etc., some of which depict Christian themes, are 'historic' and think that yes, they should be left where they have been for the past 200 years. It is a part of our heritage, and does define where we came from, and how we arrived at this point as a nation. I will also be offended if we take 'In God We Trust' off of everything. If so, we darn well better sandblast all the Masonic symbols off all our buildings, take all the steeples off all the churches, take down all the Angel headstones.... We can change the name to the Generic United States of America. It's also fun to tell those religious door-knockers, when they ring the doorbell at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, that Buddhism, or Wicca, or whatever, is something they should look into, and offer to go get some pamphlets for them to take home. Please, don't get me wrong. I have learned about other religions and beliefs, and am not belittling any of those! But the door-knockers don't seem to return.... And I also exercise one of my rights, as a citizen of the US. I change the channel, turn it to a different station, turn it OFF, or delete it.
