Very nice new members to the family. Their home is gorgeous. Your homestead is gorgeous. Love the pond and the waterfall. Must be so peaceful and relaxing after all the hard work.

What are you going to do with them in the winter? I know you're in the southern part of the state but it's still going to freeze down there.

Gorgeous pond! And fishies, too! I know a cooler is the perfect way to transport, but it looks like you're pulling out dinner! LOL! Our pond is deep enough that we can keep our goldfish in all winter (though he does bring in most of them, except the ones he can't catch). Earthdog keeps a fountain going to keep a hole open in the ice and to oxygenate the water. They go to the bottom and kind of hibernate. I don't know if koi can do that. We have a big aquarium that he puts them into. I think some people that have koi bring them in and will have a kid's splasher pool set up with a filter and air supply.

Daniel, I Red said they are about 4 years old. I would say they were well fed. Some Koi have lived to be 100.
Cher, Having lived in Grand Rapids, MN for 18 years I know how it seems like Zimmerman in in southern MN but being down here we are a long way from the southern border. ;D I do have a large air pump and air stone that will keep the pond open except if it is real cold for a long time. It will never freeze solid though. It is about 3.5' deep. That being said, I have a 250 gal stock tank that I put in the lower level of the house. I had about 30, of what I thought were large, fish in the tank last winter. I am giving a friend a lot of, what I thought were large fish, so I will be putting the new ones inside this winter. I sure would hate to lose one.
Takilasunrise, Koi will do that in the winter also. I don't think I will take the chance though.
Thanks everybody for the nice comments. Yes it is a nice to spend time and relax.....MrP
