Quite a few motorcycle stories/warnings on this 'Life' category, here's my latest:
Yesterday Hubs and I took a nice ride to the Peshtigo WI Fire Museum. Lived here forever, and not knowledgeable about that history at all, so decided to do some catching up.
Does anyone out there know about the Great Peshtigo Fire?
So---we had the Screamin' Eagle out on the pretty backroads, nice ride there, all 45 mph or so for speed limits. Saw a crane and a turkey--up close. Eventually we had to hook up to the 'real' highway for the rest of the trip, regular speed limit of 55+.
Sure enough, busy road, and we saw a string of 4 cars coming at us, in the opposite lane of this two lane highway. No problem---until the 4th car decided to pass the ENTIRE string of cars--all at once.
Cripes!!! Mark put the brakes on and swerved way to the side, the next step was the gravel shoulder and the ditch. Thankfully the car missed us IN OUR LANE, as they went by we yelled and flipped the driver off--like that will help.
I have been under strict orders for a few years now not to EVER, EVER flip anyone off again (what happens in Sturgis stays in Sturgis!), but this time I couldn't help myself.
Later Mark said he felt kinda bad doing that---it was a little old lady, about his mom's age. Geeez louweeez, you're just as dead if they hit you at age 85 as you are if they hit you at age 20!!!!!!
So I definitley will flip off and swear at absolutley anyone who scares me that bad on the motorcycle, I don't care how old they are---I personally WANT to be older than 60!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
