Here are a couple of pictures of my pond in my backyard. Click on the pictures to see a large version. On the right side of the pond, you can just make out two of the goldfish (which have made it through four winters so far). On the left on the lily pad is a frog. The other picture is a close up of the frog. The lily pad is a fake, plastic one, but the frog doesn't seem to mind. Ever since I had put in the pond, frogs have shown up. I can't imagine from where. It just doesn't seem logical to me to think that a frog would leave whatever water it may be in and take off cross-country. The closest natural water is a small creek that is sometimes dry at about a mile away. Anyway, here are the pictures:

Since we've gotten our in-ground pool, I've found 3 frogs 2 dead in the pool and one floating in the skimmer (never seen a frog before, lots of toads but not frogs)

Nice pond! But your turtle looks a little pale... There is no accounting for nature, is there?
I've seen turtles crossing a dirt road in the middle of a drought-stricken cow pasture over 5 miles from the nearest water! Go figure.
Anyone else have a bumper crop (and I mean thousands!) of little tiny toads hopping all over town? It's really bizarre!

Thanks all for your comments about my pond. It just struck me as surprising that frogs would show up in the pond. I've never seen a frog (except tree frogs, but this is isn't that) any distance from water, so I thought it odd that a water frog would take off cross-country. Toads yes, but not frogs. Yes, nature is truly amazing!
