Well here is the almost finished backyard - the pool is in and is wonderful. We've covered a 20'x17' area with patio stones (you can see a small section in the lower part) and a gazebo that's hidden from view We need to know what to do with the areas near the front end of the pool - the ones that lead to the patio area, any suggestions? We're also still trying to decide what to do with the lights, where to put them, how many etc...

Wow That looks so inviting Tweet, I wanna go swimming!! I have no suggestions, I'm not much into landscaping and only have one questions. Where's the trees? Oop, two questions ... what's that blue thing beside the pool?

Cher no trees - the roots get in the pool! but there are little shrubbish trees in the back
The big long blue thing is the solar blanket - the small short blue things are swimming fins

Tweet, That sure does look inviting. It would be really cool if you could do a rock garden fountain....recirculating the water from the pool over the rock garden. It would be alot of work, but would be something pretty neat. I really don't know where you are talking about and what else could be done. It looks fantastic as is. Steve

Yes! You need to install me in that corner! I'm the only thing missing in that photo!!
Ok, ok, I don't have any good ideas either... Maybe it's a good area for a rock garden, they're always popular!

I think it looks really wonderful too. I know you're enjoying it. I know I would love to have pool, it's so hot here. In the 100's. Maybe someone will come up with an idea you can use. In the meantime just enjoy.

All looking very neat, Tweetie. Might be nice to finish the pavers all the way to the edge of the pool deck. Might not even need curved cuts to fit them in close.
As for the lights, I'd get 'em AWAY from the pool, even if they are low voltage and on a GFCI. Plus the cords are a trip hazard, and subject to damage on the gravel.

PM me your physical address, and I may have some suggestions, after taking a dip. Just kidding! That looks so inviting! NICE pool, I'm so glad you finally are getting to use it! I think you need some more rocks. BIG rocks, that the kids can sit on, that you can use for tables (there was a post recently with a rock table?). As far as lights go, I have not a clue. Put a spotlight in the same place you took your picture? Might bother the neighbors, so make sure it's not one of those motion-sensing spots, LOL. Oh, yeah, make sure you heat it so you can swim in the winter! How fun for you and your family! Take some pix of everyone enjoying it!

It looks Great Tweetie! The only thing I would suggest is that you need a bigger grill and a wet bar. The grill should be big enough to accommodate enough hamburgers for 1,589 RTH members... hehehe. Dan

Add 1 more row of pavers and cut them so there will be a flush flat surface to walk from the house to the pool. Add some more pavers on the left side, enough so you can move the swinging chair out of the grass. Using the same pavers. Make a path from the cool deck sidewalk to the door of the shed. You dont want to trample down the grass. Keep the lights, get more, a spot light on each corner and two path lights on each side. (burry the low voltage wire under the fabric and gravel.) Bring in more gravel. Up to the top of the concrete sidewalk so that it is even. Add some large boulders in the gravel area. Then just throw the cover into the neighbors yard until you need it... Done ... Lol Or just leave it the way it is because it looks great.. (just burry the wires.) That must have been a few thousand.. I am guessing $10,000.

I think nmnonyx has thought this out really well...but he left one thing out. I think he was really saying he wants to come up and put one of his custom onyx fountains in for you free of charge....right Jason?!?! Steve

what is that black ring thing behind the BBQ? i like all of nmonyx suggestions (especially the cover storage). definetly hide those wires! do you have any more of those pavers? more shrubbery/plant treatment int the obvious spots might be nice. and a Rock Garden or a small water feature would add you own personality to it. they have several in pool lighting and fountain devices that you might look into.....other than that, it looks like a great place to hang out!!!!!!

The black stuff is edging material, didn't know where to end the darn thing - the wires from the lights will all be covered next year with white rocks - the lights are made for being outside and can be near the pool - no one walks along the light path its purely decorative
I was thinking shrubbery too - a rock fountain... I'd have trouble keeping my hands out of there - we only have slate around here - it's not nearly pretty enough
Thanks for the suggestions

It came out beautiful, Tweet! Could be see the backside please? In fact, you've showed us the whole "tutorial". No suggestions. Oh, only one: jump in and don't let the water get flat as it is in the pic. Adrian
