i hate to bring this up here....but to the one that is sending the harassing emails.....saying i show no pics....and just talk jibberish on the board...you are mainly correct....i havent had much to show lately.
i could show many beautiful things...i just choose not to show bad pictures....should i show just stuff...maybe....naw...a new camera aint to far off.
you say people are telling you that i am a fake rock person...i say now is the time for them to come forward...if not...they can ever hold there peace.
bring them forward....i want to here from them.....lets see them....how about it...kev.

what bull --- if ya ever seen a rock that caught your eye then your a rock person all the stone and machines dont make the rockhound -- the one in his pocket or sittin on the shelf does and it only takes one
so that shows ya whoever it is dont have any idea what there talkin bout hahaha

I was already in an extremely bad mood when I came here, hoping to find some enjoyment and I find crap! This just really pi$$es me off!

And so what if he hasn't been doing rock stuff recently, he should leave the forum because of this that gives you the right to harrass him with emails? I think NOT!! He's made plenty of friends here who enjoy his company and that gives him the right to stay here forever, even if he never were to pick up a rock again.
I guess in your eyes I should leave I should be getting emails telling me I'm a fake rock person too since I haven't done anything with rocks for awhile, haven't even had a tumbler running for months. Sorry but I've been a bit too busy dealing with cancer in my family! Maybe Kevin's got a good reason too and just comes here for what should be a place of enjoyment. This is the most asinine thing I've ever read ... pi$$ off you moron!

Hi Kev, don't let it bother you. I am guilty of not posting much which I hope to change. Does that make me a fake rock person? I don't think so. Just what is a fake rock person? I am not made out of rock, so I guess I am a fake rock person. lol Don't let it get to you. Most people like that are looking for a reaction, like people who expose themselves or make obsene phone calls. Don't give them what they want. Oviously they wanted to upset you and they were successful. Don't take life too seriously, as none of us will make it out alive! You have a lot of friends on this board, me included. Don't let one minite of your life being upset, about what the villiage idiot (board idiot) has to say. He or she is not worth it. Daniel

don't let it get you down Kev, you're very much allright in my book, no matter if you post pictures or not - you don't have to post pictures of rocks to be able to appreciate & love rocks and talk about them, that's what this forum is about, people talking rocks.
Some people have nothing good to say and shouldn't say anything at all!

anyone who posts anonymously isn't worth two cents...try to ignore it. years ago on this board I got a couple of similar messages...they bothered me a lot...why does someone do that. Geez. Anyway...try to just not read them and yes...take your email addy off the list. I did and it saved me a world of pain.

I also don't know what makes for a fake rock person. Goodness, I suppose I could be a fake rock person too, because everything in the tumblers right now is stuff that was bought rather than found.  Besides the incredible level of expertise that can be found here, the best part about this board is how welcoming it is towards every level of interest and expertise. That's rare in any forum. A kid who picked up a bunch of rocks from the driveway and put them into a Smithsonian would be just as welcome here as a guy who is taking rockhounding trips to Madagascar every quarter, and has every lapidary machine known to man. Anonymous emailer - please don't try to dismantle that. Emailing anyone to tell them they don't measure up to whatever your definition of a 'real' rock person is won't make the forum a better place. Maybe better in your eyes, but not better overall. If you want a more elite group of rockhounds, you're always free to set up your own forum and invite only the ones you deem worthy. But leave this one the open and welcome place that it is for all rock-lovers, of every variety, experience level, interest level, and activity level. Where else, and who else, is going to understand why getting a flat-rater full of rocks in the mail can bring such a smile to your face? Where else, and who else, is going to understand why having your slurry not thicken up the way it should have is a disappointment? Having people to talk to who understand those sorts of things is valuable, it doesn't make the least bit of difference how active they are or how expert they are. You don't have to be an expert with twenty tumblers running continuously to be able to understand, support, and advise your fellow rock-lovers, to share their joys of acquisition and discovery, or share their disappointments whenever things don't go right. All it takes is knowing where they're coming from, and all the people here most certainly know that. |

Sounds a little suspicious to me.................could it be someone stirring up trouble or even taking revenge because they felt they were forced to leave the board? Yes, I would definitely hide your email address. Hey, I don't even "do" rocks. I have learned to like them through my husband, but he's the true "rockhound", though like he says, he doesn't even hunt for them. Once in awhile, there are people that join just to sell their wares and don't contribute in any other way, those persons I would question because of their intentions to be here. But if you love rocks, regardless if you "do" them or not, post pictures or not, hunt for them or not, break them or slice them, are a newbie or veteran, this forum is for people that have a love of rocks. Period. No one has a right to bully someone off because they don't fit that person's criteria to be a member. The ones that should leave are the bullies themselves!  |

Wow - I guess it's a good thing my address isn't posted - I'd be overrun with emails telling me I'm not a real rock person as well. Though I have questioned it before - I have finally come to the conclusion that I am real. And I like rocks. I've never posted pictures and certainly don't have much to contribute when it comes to questions as I'm still learning myself, but jeez...I didn't realize there was a minimum picture quota for the board not to mention someone to police that. I was hoping to get some pictures posted - now that my sister's wedding (FINALLY!) is over and done (whoo-hoo!) but gosh...what if my pictures aren't of real rocks!?! *gasp* How silly would I feel?!? Would I be run off the board? Tarred and feathered? Luckily, I know better - there are too many good people on this board. Don't let the one bitter seed ruin your time here cpdad - I've never questioned your "realness" - nor did I feel the need to have anyone validate that what you sent me were actually rocks! Besides - anyone paying attention would know that you've had your hands full for some time now. If someone has a problem, yet doesn't have the balls (rocks?) to say it to your face instead of hiding behind technology - screw'em. We're here because we like rocks - or just because there are good people to be found here. Until Mark sends me an application asking me to verify the size of my rock pile (growing by the way! *wave to desertdweller*) - that's all we need to know. Now, enough ranting and back to work for me so I can get back home to play with my stinkin' rocks.  |

Well now, if anybody should be getting nasty emails it should be me! First of all, I live in a State  that doesn't even have REAL rocks. Except for 4 or 5 barely-bigger-than-a-pebble specimens, I have had to beg, "borrow", buy, graciously receive, and occasionally, ahem, steal (well, perhaps "borrow" is the kinder-gentler word to use here  ) all of the rocks in my pile. Secondly, and please don't throw me out of RTH for admitting this, I like shells (gasp  ) as much as I like rocks. (Oh, the shame of it; the nasty, nasty shame.  ) And Thirdly, I am the pain-in-the-derriere-darling who keeps pestering people to sponsor contests, enter contests, fall head-over-heels in love with contests every chance I get (and no, this is not a cheap plug to get anyone to enter my Poetry of Images Contest. Not at all!  ) AND I am the one who put thirty pictures that everyone has already seen into one of the l o n g e s t posts about a contest in RTH history!!! SO...Listen up, Kev! Block the Anonymous One (it is probably suffering from some algae-fungi rot of the brain  ) and just hang in here with your good friends at RTH.  And for all of you good folks in RTH, I just want you to know that even though Kev has been having some rough times and has been getting harassed by Algae-Fungi Brain, he took the time and made the effort to enter a poem in my contest, because that is just the kind of guy he is!
