After a six month fight with cancer my wife's aunt died Sunday. we where two blocks away when she passed. she is being laid out tonight. being Irish i was not liked at first by her family "off the boat Italians". i was at her house for her high school gaduation party after dating for 16 months, when her aunt said come in side. my wife told her aunt "your brother does not aprove of me dating him". well 30 seconds later i heard fighting inside. it was her aunt screming at her dad to let me come in the house to get something to eat. now they like me better then there own kids. go figure. so i owe all i have to her aunt for breaking the ice with my father-in-law. and she always loved telling the story to all how she got my foot in the door.

Ah Wiz, how sad I am for your loss of such a special Aunt, both by blood and through marriage. She is probably in Heaven, giving St. Pete a "what's for" in prep for that eventual day when you also get to the Pearly Gates. You already know she'll be pulling for you. Hold on to all the wonderful memories...they'll grow even as the pain of loss lessens to a more tolerable level. Lady B

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your aunt-in-law (?). That is a cute story of her yelling at your future father-in-law to let you come in and eat. She knew love when she saw it!

Wiz, sorry to hear about your loss. I had one of those great aunt-in-laws too. She is one of the few people in my wifes family who treats her like a human being, unlike her siblings and mother. She moved into my wife's familys home to take care of the kids while my wife's father had a heart transplant. Ever since that point my wife was closer to her aunt than her mother. She was special, on her last trip up here from Florida she brought me a large piece of wood from the bay laurel tree she had cut down in her back yard. When her aunt finally succumbed to lung cancer I made everyone in the family bowls and Christmas ornaments from the wood thinking the family would like a momento of thier aunt. I was wrong, apparently for my wifes family bought gifts mean more than sentimental ones. My thoughts are with you. Tony M (rock guy and woodturner)

Loss is never easy. You have good memories for her! I'm mostly Irish & married to a 1/2 Italian. I love the air of superiority most Italians have. Not mean...it's just "not acceptable! I'm Italian!" They are a breed all their own...but then so are we!
