I did have a "t" on the white pipe to feed both water features from one pump but that wasn't enough water power. On my pumps there is only one outlet

Ok. One is for turning the output up or down and the other is so you can hook a hose up to it for another water feature.

It has enough power for one water feature. but not two waterfalls. I like to have alot of water flowing from each feature. It comes with a bunch of fittings so you don't have to use the long tube and flow control. I use one of the fittings right off the top of the pump with a 3/4" hose right to the waterfall and the 4000gph pump I have I use a fitting and 3/4" hose right to the old had pump I have as a water feature. The second 1585 pump I have has the stem working a fountian as in the 3rd picture I posted. So I have 2 1585 pumps and a 4000gph pump working in the pond. It keeps my water very clear. Tonight I was in the pond cleaning all the filters out and stirred up a bunch of the muck on the bottom, all 3 pumps cleared the water in about an hour. The Harbor Freight 1585gph has a 13' lift, which is great for one water feature. If you want a pump to work two features then I would go with a 4000gph pump. I think for bare minimum you want a pump that will turn the water over twice in an hour. You can get a brand new pump that, lets say is a 2000gph for a 1000 gallon pond, on paper thats about right but as soon as you put any restriction on the pump at all like the green scrubbies and lava rock the pump slows to alot less, maybe like 800gph.

thanks for the info. i was thinking of building this. which sits out side the pond and can have stone place up to the outlet to feed the water fall. and plants on top to hide it, this way i won't have to enter the pond to clean the filter. www.skippysstuff.com/biofiltr.htm

Thats for a huge pond. I wouldn't want to clean all those scrubbies after you have fish in the pond. What kind of pump are you thinking of getting?

this is a large one. its the only good pic on this website. they are cut up floor cleaning pads. how do you clean the lava rocks? with a little beach and water. that is how i clean the ones in the fish tank. still checking out the pumps. the H F pumps do look good and the 1500 gph one is only 100 watts which is about 32 cents a day to run. is that a holla hoop keeping the plants together

I never use bleach. Bleach+ fish= dead fish. I just use the hose from the house with a very tight spray gun and rinse them off. The lava rock is so porous that is still lets water through. I wrap the scotch bright pads or green scrubbies around the inlet of the pump then pour the lava rock over the whole pump. It is just some hose that I made a circle with to put around my Water Hyacinth, I was told they grow better bunched up.

i have cleaned my fish tank lava rocks in a 5 gallon bucket of water with a few shots of bleach for years. i had my 45 gallon tank cleaned once a month before because i never had the time to do it and that is what the guy did. " no lemon scent or such just straight bleach " but than i was not worried about the "bio" part of it just getting the algae off of them.

I would be afraid that I or whoever didn't rinse all the bleach out and would have some dead fish floating. let me tell ya what I did a few months ago. I have been having an algae bloom problem all season. I have used hydrogen peroxide before with great success, but a few months ago I dumped in way to much and the next morning had about 6 big goldfish floating. The HP works great on string algae as long as you use it in moderation.
