Sweet! They look great. For the algae problem, get some barley bales or use some hydrogen peroxide. If you put a bunch of bottom plants in the pond they will eat up the nitrogen that causes the algae bloom. I have been fighting string algae all year, the water is nice and clear but have the H.A. all over my liner and coming out of the fountian. Every week I'm taking handfulls of it out. If you use the peroxide be careful not to use to much if you have fish it will kill them. If you don't have fish then put a few bottles in the water and in a couple days you will see it clear up but you will need to do it once a month. I have done 1/2 water changes and cleaned my filters every week and the string algae keeps coming back.

wow, Jamie, those are beautiful!!! your dad really has the talent and the eye for great ponds and landscaping!!! it's a very stark contrast with the dry Utah background and the lushness of the ponds and greenery. very Zen.

Really nice ponds. Looks like your dad has done a lot of work in his yard. Seems like you need to care for these the way you care for an aquarium.

Thanks everyone, lol Don, thats what I call their yard, a buffet in the oasis. They have plums, apricots, peaches, cherries, black raspberries, golden raspberries, grapes, strawberries, blackberries, gooseberries, melons and a large garden..... Before we even went inside we hit the yard up for some fresh fruit! E-dog, I don't even know what string algae is, will you post a picture?

Those ponds are amazing.
I wonder if he did them himself or if he had someone build them?

Chassroc, My Dad built the two big ones and my brother and I helped him build the two smaller ones. The two big ones have a total of 5 waterfalls that flow into them, one of the falls pours down the inside of the big rock you can see behind the pond. He's really creative when it comes to stuff like that, I will see if I have any pictures of the falls.

Thanks Takila, They live on the north end of the Wasatch Mountain Range, the area they live in is made up of 40 acre parcels so they don't really have any neighbors. They are up high enough on the mountain that their house overlooks the whole valley. I will add a few more pictures, of their view and of their yard. They have had groups of people come to tour their yard, my Dad has got to love that!

does your dad make his own filters. i have been looking online at how the make a bio filter for the pond we are going to put in to complete the yard. it will be against the house to the left of the patio.

I will ask him about the filter, Earthdog made a beautiful pond also, you may want to talk to him about his filter too. If I find out he did make his bio-filters, I will have him send me the instructions and forward them to you.

Wow Earthdog - that's some amazing looking ice sculpture Your lighting effects make it very spectacular, nice work Sir! Does the ice cause problems with the pumps? Thanks for showing us the photos, they are amazing. Like a winter wonderland DesertDweller, now that's no pond, it's a lake system where I come from! I'm liking the way each section breaks up the eyeline, makes each area in to a feature. I love gazing in to rock pools at the coast, little underwater worlds just waiting to be investigated, I could spend hours in that garden it's quite superb. Thanks for sharing it with us all, it was great to see. Cheers, Harry.

hey earthdog what are the two outlets on the pipe that go left and right on the way up to the fountain head on the pump? are they to feed a water fall?
