im not sure where its going up...or in what state....missed some of it....it was on a cable news channel.
but it seems a dude from china will be carving it...using granite from china....whats up with that....americans will dig the hole for the statue to sit in....but the guy from china....with his china granite....has the last word on everything...kev.

Well, I just hope it doesn't get recalled! Now why in the world would we not use an African-American artist and American material to make it out of?

I just found the article and it is going to be three stories high and placed at the national mall. MLK would hate the way the Chinese are treated. This is just wrong. SilverLass

ok, i found this story from the Washington Post: www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/14/AR2007081401691_3.htmland i must say, i have to think about this some more before i sort out how i feel about this. my first reaction to this thread was outrage about outsourcing, and even in the first part of the article, i was like, yeh, ok, it's all come done to the almighty dollar......but aafter reading the entire article........i'm not sure how i feel about it. Krazydiamond, I didn't see that post. I am with you I'm not all that sure how I feel. Most white people that I've met in the 60's and early 70's didn't think MLK was also addressing us. I loved him and his ideas. We lost three great men.MLK, JFK ,and Robert Kennedy. that's when we cried for us.... Let me think on this . SL

i just read that article...i just caught the tale end of the argument last night on t.v. as always 2 sides....i told my secretary this morning about it...and she found some stuff on it....she said georgia granite was offered for portions of the statue....but it was turned down because it was to expensive to ship to chiina....have polished...and shipped back....why would they want to send it to somewhere else to be polished by folks making 25 cents an hour anyway?. but she did email me the site she was looking at...i just read it to...and if it is true....i think its total junk for them to strip the original designer of the design...but as always 2 sides...kev. nativeson.wordpress.com/2007/06/26/the-martin-luther-king-jr-memorial-controversy/
