Hi Everyone and Welcome to my 250th Post on the forum!

Thanks to you all for making me feel so welcome. It's been great fun and very informative! ;D

In the spirit of camaraderie that you wonderful folks here at RTH do so well, I have a few comments to make on the Glorious Poetry of Images Competition. You will no doubt have read my views on this contest, I've had a really great time taking part and want to leave you all in no doubt as to why. LadyBeabea has given us an inspirational opportunity, and I for one couldn't help but dive right in and have some fun, and what fun it has been. So please join me in saying a huge....




Now... The quality of the poems you all wrote was incredible, and I just want to say a "few" words, so here goes.....

Part 1

Condor 1 - While Walking A Beach - by textiger
Nice ditty Mat! It’s an opening line we are all familiar with, and I love the way I started to worry after the first line, but you managed to tame our fears by the last. A smiley poem that I enjoyed very much. Thanks for the chuckle!

Sabre 1 - The Early Morning Struggle's - by BuiltonRock
John, I liked this poem very much, the gentle movement and vivid descriptions were exactly what I feel, sitting by the lake watching the sunrise. The line “This awesome scene of majesty” was wonderful, nice work Sir, Thanks.

KD, you hit the nail on the head with that one chuck, I think the bouncing rhythm was brilliant, really nice writing! It’s not just me that feels this way about those rocks then?! Thanks for the entry Mam, I love that style!!!

BeefJello 2 - The Prize Inside - by dtcmor
Dave that was an enthralling tale of rocks, time, friendship and co-operation. The story was great and I’m sure we can all see a part of ourselves in there somewhere. I really liked the rolling moods as joy turned to sorrow, and then back again. Thanks very much indeed.

Thanks for the sweet little poem about the angel in the stone Karen, I liked the term Country Angels, has a nice rounded ring to it. The shape is so perfect, you could put it on the top of the christmas tree

Awww, those poor little petrified Hobbits, I’m sure glad Beef was along to release them again! What a cracking bit of poetry Adrian, it was cool the way all was happy, then the volcano comes along! Caught me by surprise too!

Now then Bill, if you can tell me where to get a chicken that lays thunder eggs, that would be really excellent! I’ve heard of the golden goose, but I’d rather have a Thunder Chicken!! Thanks for the poem mate, I enjoyed the chuckle immensely.

What a fantastic poem Amy, that was really sweet and lovely, a wonderful sentiment that really appeals to my soft side. I’m sure my Susie would love any stone if it was half as beautiful as your words. Thanks Mam, that was lovely.

Now KD, you are making a habit of this! The pace from line to line, and verse to verse is entrancing. I love the variation and symmetry between your verses, really neat and cohesive. Very professional writing, thanks so much for letting us read it.

Dave this was really finely crafted Sir, hats off! I liked the opening lines very much - really drew me in to the vibe. I love dragonflies when I’m sat next to the lake, and your words captured the craft and wonder in the piece wonderfully. Thanks again.

Amy, I think many of us will have been there at some point, aren’t kids great! Next time they melt my lipsticks I’m going to.... Ooops - meant to keep that to myself! Thanks for the chuckle, it was a poem only a Mum could have written.

Wow KD - Is that really all in there! Oh yes, I think I can see it now you’ve shown us where. Really bouncy happy poem Mam, I love the opening verse. It was a really lovely picture that reminded me of my niece, enough to make anyone smile

Now let me guess Tony, I get the feeling you like your cabbing hey?! I thought your poem was great, took me a moment to connect up the feelings, but I can see your need to cab coming through strong. Thanks for the poem mate! Great mood!

Wow John! - that was a deep thinking poem Sir, really stirring the senses with that one, thanks! I can feel the serene majesty too, nicely crafted words which capture the mind as much as the heart. Thanks for the vibe Sir, I really enjoyed it.

Hey Stefan, never say never! That was cool, I liked the range of senses you found in the stone. It definitely has that waxy glow that so characterises the moon. Thanks for the poem, it was very nicely written.

Hey - Tony, are we safe to come out yet? I’ve got lots of rocks, and now I’m kind of worried! Thanks for the poem, that was almost like the Sci-Fi movies from the ‘50’s It’s Alive! Alive I tell you!!!! Very spooky writing Sir, thanks again!

Krazydiamond 1 - Glass Candy Haiku - by sabre52
That was a fun Haiku Mel, they really do look like sweeties don’t they! Diets definitely do suck, but the you can make sweeties last ages if you suck ‘em back! Now I can’t stop thinking about boiled sweets!! Thanks for the poem Sir!

Krazydiamond 1 - Who-What-Where Am I - by connrock
Wow!!! Connrock, that was a really heartwarming piece of poetry. You really caught what it means to be a rock polisher with your tone and pace through verse. I thought the last part was truly uplifting, very well done Sir, thanks!!!

I think I might be coming down with it too Bill, it’s an affliction for sure! I’d recommend a good long beer for the old dino fire mate! I think you deserve one after all the laughs you’ve caused Thanks for all the hard work!

Stoner 5 - Silicon Life Forms - by blarneystone
Thanks for the Haiku Dan, that was a fabulous wee poem, I really liked the term “Silicon life forms”. How many times have we cracked open rocks and seen stuff that could only be described in this way?! Nice writing Sir!

Well Amy, how lucky are we to have a “natural” like you join up!! I think the folks here have been naming cabs for years, and yet you’ve taken to it like a duck to water Your poem was lovely mate, thanks very much for the hard work.

What deeply meaningful words KD, I just loved the “frozen for eternity” line, sometimes our rocks really are windows frozen in time, great term there Mam, I’ll be remembering that one for the future! Thanks KD!

Great Haiku Susan, the spacey rock really spoke to you there didn’t it! I particularly enjoyed the line “Lady lost in space”. What a touching and melancholy ending to your brilliant verse. Thanks for the entry - I really enjoyed it.

Having spent 5 years looking down microscopes I loved your interpretation on this one, but that’s a dark bit of writing Amy! I enjoyed it but Wow! You sure got some impact with that one! An interesting and evocative piece of poetry. Thanks!

Now your talking Shannon - I’m not being biased (I do love OJ but really! I’m not!) I thought you poem was great! I liked “Nature’s soul by itself expressed”, what a wonderful line, so beautifully stated. Thanks so much for your entry.
