That squirrel is amazing--not only because of its unique beauty, but also because it has managed to stay alive. The albino coloring means it has no natural camouflage so a predator (typically a cat) could see it even in shrubbery (cats apparently see in black and white, rather than color, so it would be in sharp contrast to its surroundings). I wopuld definitely notify the wildlife center for your area because he is of special importance to his species.
Hope he stays safe.

There has been a white one coming around about this time of year for the last 4 years or so. I don't know if it's the same one or not. I did a search on albino squirrels and they aren't that uncommon. I found a little information that states some are true albino and some are just white. I will be watching for this one to see if I can tell which it is.

there is a town in southern Indiana -- just across the border from Il. that has all white squirrels --- alot of people pass thu there just to see them -- I want to say it's " New Harmony" but my memory isn't as good as it use to be ! ;D -- anyway, it's funny to see all of them white like that !

Very interesting, thanks for posting the photos. It looks like he stands out against green vegetation, but he'll be all right when it snows! But, I think they hibernate???

ok, the memory is doing better --- it's Olney -- right before New Harmony they don't sleep all winter tho --- I sit and watch them knock the snow off the branches in jan & feb --- think they sharpen up their toe nails tho when the trees have ice on them ! ;D
