Woohoo! I finally got hooked up to wireless, no more dial up. What a deal, it's cheaper than my dial up was and no installation costs or anything. Not as fast as cable but 1/3rd of the price. YaY!!

I've talked to several people in town here and been told that they are very very very few interruptions in service. If it doesn't work, I'll probably sit and cry cause I won't have any internet at all then, I'm dropping my dial up completely next month.

My mom has dial-up - everytime she tries to load up a page, she got disconnected - she was trying to download Adobe Reader and it was supposed to take 45 minutes - she kept getting disconnected - finally I copied it to a CD for her to upload - she has the kind that uses your phone line and you can't get calls while using the internet - I CANNOT stand the sound dialup makes upon connecting... yeesh

Cher, You've joined the twentyfirst century! I don't really care to pay for a cell phone but I could not survive with dialup.
csroc
P.s.-the cell phone part is partly true; I dont pay for it and dont care if I have one (unless I'm away from home) but my company does since I'm on call 24X7

Congrats Cher! I was on dial up until 3 months ago. I didn't want to pay $60 plus cell phone charges so I kept putting off buying anything. Then I found Alltel. They have setup that you can plug your cell phone into for $25 a month. No contract and it works GREAT. Not as fast as DSL or cable, but cheap and beats the living daylights out of dial up.

I just wish I get the bugs ironed out now. IE and my anti-virus program continually call for the dial up connection, in fact, the anti-virus program won't even upgrade itself even though the computer is online all the time. I've searched and searched, found others with the problem but still haven't found "THE" correct answer. I've changed so many settings today I almost lost myself. ;D

There I was thinking, I was so cool being on wireless for three lousy freakin' days! Then we have the worst electrical storm we've had in about four years and lightening hit the bank where the service was located. So, I am back on dial up again.
