Hi Rockers! I have had problems with my computer since moving to the present location.I keep getting this message: cannot connect to yahoo and yahoo cannot be found,I even called my phone co.5 times and they took me thru every test that you can imagine,i finally found out that it was the extra`s that i had on my phone, like call waiting, voice mail, etc. so i stopped all the extras except caller id,now my computer is working just fine now.I don`t know if anyone else has had this problem but i just wanted to share this incase someone was having the same problem.................Rocky

Hey RO, most common "extra" is call waiting. There is usually a code that you can enter to disable that while you are online. I really don't see why anything else should bother.

The code for my phone service is *70 to temporarily prevent call waiting. When you hang up, call waiting is re-activated. I use it when I call long distance so I'm not interrupted by the "click." I don't have dial-up, but I've also heard (like Ron) that call waiting is a problem with staying connected with dial-up.

Yeah Rocky, I had to switch to a cable modem because our phone lines are so squirrel chewed and outdated that I couldn't stay connected or even connect most the time with dial up....Mel
