I know this is a repeated topic, but it's fun to talk about it again. What is your favorite holiday movie, TV show special, etc? I would have to say my favorite comedies are: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Elf The Santa Clause A Christmas Story Here's a link to a website that has a directory of tons of Christmas movies! www.christmasmovies.us/a-z.html

And if you are a Scrooge like my husband, Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton is probably a favorite.

Our favourite Christmas movies are Enemy at the Gates, Hellraiser. We get the family together, burn some popcorn, and we all try to think of how Vassili could have done it all quicker. Yeah!

A Christmas story... I love that one! Never forget the leg lamp. Also the old cartoons, Grinch, Charlie Brown, Frosty, Rudolph. I'm a real sap for that stuff.

You can actually BUY your own leg lamp! Wouldn't that be cool? Here's a link to a website that sells them: www.redriderleglamps.com/Oh, yeah, last night "Elf" was on TV and I watched it for a little bit. I actually heard Earthdog giggling at some of the scenes. I was shocked! He tends to think the stuff I think is funny is not.

The original animated "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
"Scrooged"...Carol Kane should have won an Oscar as the Ghost of Christmas Present.
I too love the Leg Lamp..."it's a major award!!!" You can also find a nightlight version of the Leg Lamp for around 10 bucks.
And is it just me or does every family have a "Cousin Eddie"?

And if you are a Scrooge like my husband, Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton is probably a favorite. Shannon That's one of our favorite Christmas movies. It's also time for us to break out another yearly Hanukkah favorite...The Hebrew Hammer. We watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation every year at our Christmas get-together with friends.

Here are some that are at the top of our list: A Wonderful Life (in black and white and with a box of tissues handy for Lady B) A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim, 1951 (in black and white; the first Christmas movie I saw as a child and one which terrorized me for years!!!! especially when I heard chains rattling--a fairly common occurrence in winters up north, back in the day.) (We also love A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott; and one that was made for TV with Richard Chamberlain--which we have never been able to find again.) A Christmas Story--Bob and Tim just love this one. I think it's a guy thing. ;D ;D ;D Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! with Boris Karloff (doesn't seem like Christmas time if we don't see this one.) Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! with Jim Carrey Home Alone (1990)--the first of this series was by far the best! Remember MacCauley patting on the aftershave and his eyes popping wide? The Little Drummer Boy (the original animation)--amazing to see this type of animation when it first came out and the song is so beautiful. Miracle on 34th Street (1947) with Edmund Gwenn, Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Gene Lockhart, and Natalie Wood. Natalie was so good in this version. Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962)--that voice; that impaired vision!!!! National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation--squirrels, cats, RVs, toupees, jello molds--ah the visions of Christmas this one evokes!!! This is an annual MUST SEE!!! ;D ;D ;D The Santa Clause (1994)--another one in which the original is the best of the series. Bob and I both had Oscar Mayer Weenie Whistles back in the day!!! White Christmas (1954)--no matter what the song, if I hear Bing Crosby singing I think of this wonderful Holiday Classic!!!! Now I have a question for all who read this: Way back in the late 60s or possibly as late as 1971, Bob and I each saw an incredible animated Christmas short on television. It was in color (thus the 60s) and it was about the Three Wise Men only they were cosmic visitors from another planet. It was phenomenal!!! And now, Bob and I CANNOT remember the name of this special so we cannot begin to track it down. Did anyone else see this animation? Does anyone know its name? And lastly...has anyone read: The Gift of the Magi by O Henry? This has to be one of my all-time favorite stories associated with Christmas. An incredible tale about unconditional love!!!! If you haven't read this short story...give it a go and feel the magic!!! Lady B
