Got another one from ebay yesterday. This one is new and brass and black. I won another engine the other day so I think this new one will only be fired the one time to keep it nice looking, for more of a show piece. I also won a meat grinder guy and some other machines to hook up to the steam engines. If noone is tired of seeing them, I'll post pics. of them later. Anyway here are some pics and a short clip of the new one.    |

Cool! This one appears to have valve gear, which allows steam to be alternately applied to both side of the piston, so you get a power stroke in both directions of the piston travel. A speed governor, too. A bit more sophisticated design than your other one. This is somewhat analogous to comparing a 2-cycle IC engine with a 4-cycle. Very nice!

No, there is no speed valve. The screw by the piston is the oiler.
I have been looking at some of the D21 and bigger models that do have the speed control though.

i had one of those when i was a kid,didnt appreciate it though,and lost it,where can you buy them...do they still run on those white tablets ?

I have bought 3 from Ebay.
Yep, they run on the Esbit fuel tabs. You can also get an electric steam engine also, or the real old ones that run with alcohol.
