Ok, we've had your favorite Christmas movie thread. Now, let's get our mouths watering and name your favorite Christmas cookies and candy! Of course there are many for me, but I would have to say gingerbread cookies with butter frosting has got to be at the top of the list. I also love chewy molasses cookies! As for candy, I love english toffee (my girlfriend makes the best!) and Old Dutch Caramel Corn (see link below to recipe). www.olddutchfoods.com/recipe/recipe.php?id=18Also, it would be fun to hear about your family traditions!

We like lots of cookies but the most popular here are - Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies with ice cold milk to wash them down! YUM!!!
- Snickerdoodles...the name alone makes us smile!
- Mexican Wedding Cakes (AKA Russian Tea Cakes and many other names)--those little, melt in your mouth, crumbly, buttery, cookies that get rolled in powdered sugar! And for a special treat, you can put an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss or Andes Mint chips in the center before baking...
Now I need to get started on our Christmas Cookies...Oh Joy!!! Lady B

I'm a Snickerdoodle girl myself. Unless there's some good peanut butter fudge around. My grandmother used to make a lot of candy this time of year - she made homemade Snicker bars - they were awesome. She even bought the little candy bar molds that she would "paint" the melted chocolate into to form the shell. mmmmm My other grandmother was well known for her divinity - I barely remember it now though. Man, does anything make you realize how much you miss your grandparents like Christmas?

I like divinity, too, but I've never made it. I don't have any experience with making candy with the whole candy thermometer thing!

My mom used to make coconut bon-bons with the dark chocolate coating, ummmmm. I sure do miss her and her bon-bons, no one else can make them like she could. Also cherry chocolate fudge, I am getting fat just thinking about it...................Tony

Tweetiepy, I'll have to get the recipe from my friend and then I'll get it to you.
The coconut bon-bons sound good, Tony! It seems like moms and grandmas always make the best stuff!
I had a great-aunt that used to make these killer gingerbread cookies. They were the soft kind. She always had them Martha Stewart-like decorated.
Sandsman, Kenosha is a very Italian town, so you can find pizzelles in the local bakeries like Paielli's or the local Italian Deli and Grocery store called Tenuta's. I love the anise flavored pizzelles!

Alice B Toklas Christmas specials!!! Full of herbs for insight and inspiration. Especially the ones made by Alice at the Santa Claus and his Old Lady Commune. It is amazing how much time you get after eating them. Even the clock slows down.

Divinity..... Well, it's not my favorite! Not to make, not to eat. Or maybe we just have never made it right? Lotsa work for stuff nobody ate, haha! I'm all about the English Toffee, tho. That could even look like a rock! Post it in the recipe contest, which is still running, by the way. In fact, most of those recipes probably look like rocks! Now if someone could cut me a few Gingerbread Men out of agate slabs, I could hang those on my tree! I have 'memories' of everything else, but not a rock on my tree yet!
