I love Sushi and Tuna thats just charred on the outside and I really Love Raw Oysters and Clams! I take my chances but in a somewhat intelligent manner. I try to get seafood from better sources (restaurants and stores that have a quick turnaround), but so far I've been lucky not to get food poisening.
The best raw clams I ever had were on the Boardwalk at Seaside Heights NJ. They were from Long Island NY and were incredibly good and the place may not have seemed like a good choice but it turned over more clams than any place I've ever been to.
The best oysters on the East Coast were from Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. We followed the "OYster" signs five or ten miles over dirt roads to a remote campground where the proprieter sold oysters dug locally, really good, My cousin Greg (and me) would dig some really fresh Cherrystones in Orleans on Cape Cod.
On the West Coast, the first time I tasted Kumimotos and other Pacific Oysters back around Y2K was amazing. They're some much smaller, yet deeper and whiter and different than east coast oysters....
I guess I'll keep taking the risk until the worms pierces my brains csroc

so you guys think eating at home is OK. Ha Ha. i say. i work at a tortilla factory when i was young. i ran the big mixer. i had just put the flour in when the owner came by with a Little plastic bag. he show it to me and said. well we have to get on this weevil problem. that bag had what look like flour. then i looked closer. and it was weevils covered in flour. about a half cup. then he turn around and toss them in the mixer. well it seem the gov does not tell them you can't have bugs in the food. they say you can have a amount of bugs. and really its just bugs mike

csroc brings up another good point...
Louisiana is known the world over for their food. I love it there but they do have some issues most people don't know about.
It is one of the most polluted areas in the US. The Mississippi brings all the toxic waste from the upper part of the States and the state is so corrupt with all the people looking to skim, steal and generally get theirs before someone else does, that the land and water is horribly suspect for all sorts of bad things. BUT...it's a fishermans paradise even with all the glowing radioactive fish and stuff they pull out of their rivers!
I swear to God...the women in my husbands family are all bald and wear wigs! At first I thought is was just hereditary but I realized most of these women were not related by blood. They just all lived in the same areas and ate from the same regions!
Oppps...got a little off subject...

2 of my favorites. I love Slim Jim's too. I keep a stock of them in my Propane truck. The other drivers make fun of me but I tell them that it is diet food. I say, "Look, it says SLIM right here on the box!" This is no joke, the second ingredient on the Slim Jim label is "mechanically separated chicken". In my opinion chicken doesn't achieve it's maximum flavor potential until it is mechanically separated. Mmmm. As far as Weevils go, my grandma who grew up during the Depression used to make us pick the Weevils out of our cereal if we wanted to eat. Waste not want not. Try to get kids today to eat food that just had bugs in it.
