After reading all of the interesting stuff on the message board, I had to register.
My name is Calvin and live in Felton, CA, which is near Santa Cruz and Sillycon Valley.
I saw several message on the high expense of grit.
I found a website that sell silicon Carbide in bulk. The name is something like AAA-Industrial. The prices seemed reasonble as long as you wanted grit in volume- 50 lbs each
If you would like to know the name, I will look it up.

Greetings All, Welcome a'board Calvin. The biggest expense to grit, once you decide to buy in bulk, is shipping. Same as with the rocks and machines come to think of it I know a place in Glenn Cove New York which will sell 50 lb buckets of grit for wholesale prices, but paying for shipping would be a bummer. Eventually I'll figure out how to minimize shipping and or just save up the money to pay for it all in cash. Gotta have grit to tumble, and I'm already out of the 46/70, and 60/90. Can't have that... Hi Calvin and welcome from somebody who has only been here for a week or so. Seems to be a pretty good flow of new people. I just started tumbling and have gone a little nuts, particularly on the subject of tumbling ruby, sapphire, and emerald.

Hi John, that doesn't look like too bad of a deal. I've been using the rockshed @ 12.50/5lb so it looks like that is a bit cheaper when you add the cerium. I don't know how they ship, the shed is reasonable using Fedex believe it or not. Good luck, later, Don
