Location: Willow creek, Idaho where it is found in huge thunderegg-like nodules. Lots of multicolored egg/orb/ swirl designs characterize this fine porcelain jasper.

Mel, do you have any pics of this in the rough? You say "Huge Thunderegg" is that about the size of a hens egg? Or closer to a baseball sized geode? What a great rock!

jrtrio: Sorry but I don't have any rough. I bought several slabs from Larry's Rocks ( the actual miner) at Quartzite several years ago. I thought the slabs were a better deal than the rough that was about $20 per pound as the slabs, of course, are proven material. The thunderegg-like nodules get quite large ( at least a foot or so in diameter as many of his slabs were in the 8" range. This one is like 4x6 inches. He operates out of Boise , Idaho and has a pretty nice operation where he cuts big pits with a dozer and removes the jasper. I kid you not, his rock was absolutely beautiful and in many colors and varieties. I could've easily dropped my entire wad of spending money at that one booth! It's interesting to me that the Bruneau Jasper comes in similar nodules and I have even found an occasional thunderegg from our Southern California Hauser Beds with material just like Willow Creek or Bruneau Jasper. Eastern Oregon also has orbed porcelain jasper in some of the t-egg sites too.! mel
