I'm not fully certain, but I believe this rough came from near Thunder Bay, Ontario. I purchased it from Bedrock Supply, Edmonton, quite a few years ago. It is deep purple, but the colour seems difficult to capture in a photo. Rough: Polished. This batch also has rose quartz, which is a good stone to tumble with amethyst because they require the same babying to prevent chipping:

Came out good and shiny. I like them both.

Those rocks are as gorgeous in the rough as they are polished! Beautiful stuff!

Did you have much loss from chipping and breaking? I sometimes do with Amethyst that have the clearer quartz surrounding the darker purple stone. I'm always hoping one piece will come out looking like one stone was captured by another.
