I will post pictures as soon I figure out how to but I was digging in our rock pile today and found SO MANY interesting rocks!! I asked my husband where they came from and he said he got it by the truck full and it is just plain river rock. WELL--- they don't look plain to me! Some have a bit of a sandy composition but so many different colors! Will this rock disintegrate or will it tumble ok? I'm going to clean it up and try to post some pictures. If anyone has any idea what the names are and if they will tumble well, I'd appreciate any advice! Thank you!! Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 Image 5 Image 6 Image 7 Image 8 Image 9

Most of it looks like Granite to me. #2, #3, #4, & #8 look to be entirely granite. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=rocksidlib&action=display&thread=1138382919You should go through the Rock ID library section and compare them to the rocks you have. You just might ID all of them. All your rocks should tumble well. The sandstone is iffy though (it might or might not take a shine). It all depends on how compressed it is. The quartz and granite that you have will take a shine.

They all look worthy of a tumble. It's super fun to experiment with local finds, and how cool is it to do your own rock hunting right at home?
Experiment with a little of this and a little of that, and soon you'll be able to spot the ones that will take a nice shine.
