This is courtesy of Ed (Stoner). Limb casts are (to the best of my knowledge) pieces of wood that were buried and then rotted away, leaving a hollow mold. Silica then filled in the hollow, forming a silica cast in the exact shape of the original wood, in this case pale pink agate. Other materials can also fill the void, for example, calcite. Ed, please add your finished pics to this thread!
