Here are a couple of pics of a piece I am bidding on ebay. This is Russian material, I believe. Not as uniform of color as the Turkish material I got a couple of years ago, but the variations should make for interesting stones. It's a little over a pound. Now, if I can just find a hammer big enough to smash it down into tumbler sized shards........

I know someone else got in a big e-fight with you on this subject once, and at that time I took your side, but this time I'd even say that this rock really deserves better than a hammering.
If you win it, send it off to someone with a saw to slab up, then hammer the slabs if you want, but before you do- send one of them to me to cut a cab or two out of- please!

lol, Too funny Ken, lets get a picture of you doing it. ;D
Yes, that does look like Kavkas material from Russia. If the seller is vsairan(sp?), i know the material well. However very little i have gotta has any real blue color, mostly a gray. BUt when he originally started selling it on ebay back in 2001, i got some nice purple pieces from him, he doesnt list that material anymore, at least not that ive seen. Have you checked out lapidarydealers on ebay. I know Hasan pretty well and though some of his lower grades of Blue Chalcedony are faily mutted, he got some find blues, just spendy. IM sure i can wreatle up a couple pieces next time i see ya. just remind me.

Hey Space...did you see the stuff from Lapidarydealers on e-bay? I noticed their stuff cause they're in the same city as me. Looks like they have some top quality rock but might be a bit spendy! (also appears to be Turkish origin)

Yes, I looked at his stuff, but "spendy" seems almost an understatement. He has one lot of reddish material with some blue mixed in that is only about $5 a pound with shipping. I might consider that one if I don't win the Russian. The good stuff is clear off my budget horizon, though.
Do they have a store where you can go and drool on the rocks?

Yes, Shain, I already had those on my watchlist. I guess I lucked out when I got a couple of pounds of tumbling chunks two years ago for five bucks. I'll get some more here, but deciding how much I want of what is the next step. Seven pounds is a bit much. We'll see how we do on the Russian stone first.

Well, I won the Russian rock. Here is a pic of the 7.7 pound lot I bought from Hasan. And here is a pic of a half pound lot I did not buy from Hasan. This is material from Turkey. The last pic is more the color of the material I got before.
