I found these at a small creek behind my house. I thought I had seen a pic that looked like them awhile back but can't seem to find it now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Raquel

The large chunk looks like a pet wood- Smaller stuff looks like a jasper shot threw with quartz

I'd say they look like the common Franciscan Formation jasper/chert/quartz type material found throughout California's Coast Ranges. Most are typically shades of red, yellow, green or brown. Keep your eyes open though, as it often grades into nice poppy or brecciated materials in the same formations..mel
