yep its jade,possibly polar jade.There are so many forms of jade it can and does get confusing.The best place to answer your questions about jade is here,http://www.mindat.org/

Yep, I'd say nephrite jade. Two types of jade, nephrite and jadeite. Different in composition and the jadeite seems to be less common and more often in colors other than green....Mel

Do you know what the claimed source of this jade was? It does vary quite a bit depending where it came from. Somebody get Tony over here, maybe he can tell more from the pic.
